Waiting Approval- Call from UPS ANthem care manager

Hello. I rec'd a call from the UPS Care manager thru ANthem.  She asked me 1,000 questions and said she was not the Nurse that approves or denies.  What was she doing?? Any ideas? anyone  had one of these calls? Thanks

What sort of questions was she asking? Maybe she was gathering more information for those who do make the decision....? Vicki..sound reasonable?? Sherri

Hi Sherri. It was almost as if she was lecturing me about the surgery.  She asked if I had been explained the risks and if they acutally showed me the procedure.? She asked if I had a exercise plan in mind other than a gym? She asked some health questions? Which I thought, do you NOT have my chart in front of you???  She asked if I had a good support person? Hopefully your right, she told me after the surgery she would be calling me to check on me and if it got denied she would be the middle man also??? It was very strange.  I have worked in the medical field 20 years and I'm really not sure WHY she called... ha ha   I keep telling myself, hopefully that was good sign because why would they waste all that time on calling me? I was on the phone with her for 45 minutes.  also, they haven't given me a FLAT out no.

I think a lot of companies are doing this now. We have care managers at Anthem for both my husband and I to help manage our health and they call every couple months to ask how we're doing yada yada. If hospitalized or I have a series of claims in a certain amount of time this person will call and find out if I'm doing better, what my treatment plan is and etc. This may be what they're doing. IDK but I HTH Praying for you for a quick approval.
