RE- Weigh~ Dr Guptas office

Hello. I got a denial yesterday from my insurance and Dr Guptas office had me come in for re-weigh today and Now my BMI is 41.10!!  The letter I got from my insurance says Must be medically necessary.. #1.  BMI of 40 or greater, OR BMI of 35 or greater with co-morbities....  The way I am understanding that is if my bmi is over 40 I DO NOT HAVE to HAVE other co morbities is that right?? Thanks for any input

My insurance (BCBS of Texas) said the exact same thing as yours, my BMI is 40.0 and I got approved within days of them sending in my psych evaluation.  I do not have any of the co morbidities commonly associated with morbid obesity, which pleasantly surprised my surgeon and my husband actually thought it meant I'd get denied, but I didn't.  Good luck!! Never thought you'd be happy to re-weigh and come out higher! Check your height too on his report.  I'm 5'5 1/2" tall...if they put my height at 5'6", my BMI is 39.5, but at 5'5 it came out 40.0.
