Hello all........I am new to this board and new to the whole process of WLS. I work for Clarian so naturally I went to their seminar since they are in network and also considered a center of excellence.  I was asked to pick a surgeon when I left the meeting but have no clue who to pick. I welcome any suggestions any of you might have? I want to get my first appt. scheduled ASAP. Thanks!! Michele

My Dr. is Inman, from St.V's, BUT I have met and heard Dr. Sam Matter speak several times, and feel he is very knowledgable and caring. He would be my pick if I were choosing someone at Clairan. Plus, Ruthann & Annessia are great!!!! Whoever you choose, I wish you all the best. Welcome here, you are among "family" *****ally care! ((((hugs)))) Ellen

Dr. Mattar is my surgeon.  I think he is terrific, and I would highly recommend him. I have not heard anything bad about any of them though. Best wishes, Bev

Hi Michele, I also work for Clarian and did alot of research on the doctors.  I work with nurse that go back and forth to Clarian North and IU where I work.  I ask which doctor had the best outcome as far as not having  many problems and one name came up alot.  Dr. Mattar, head of the center,  was recruited to start the bariatric center.  Nurse commment on his bedside manner, pain control, and his total ability to follow-up /and be able to reach if needed.   I will say Clarian has some of the best doctors in this field so any doctor you pick you will not go wrong.  Their a support group two wed. a month with always a doctor to speak about the surgery and themselves.  I wish you lots of luck in your journey.  Louvella

Doesn't Dr. Inman work out of St. V and Clarian too? I think she's done a wonderful job for me.

I havn't had surgery yet, but I have Dr. Inman and she is wonderful!!!  She has a great personality and really knows her stuff.  I've never met Dr. Matter but I heard he was excellent too!  I've seen his name quite a bit around here as well.

I have to go with the consenses. :) Dr Mattar was my doc and he is wonderful. The best bed side manner I think I've ever seen from a doc. He is very knowledgeable and just very kind. I love the staff at Clarian. Ruthann and Annessa are great! As are the nurses. My sister is looking into having the surgery and we went to a seminar and I told her to go with Dr Mattar. She had met him before when I had my WLS and seemed to think he was really nice. Good luck with your decision! Julie
