Does not getting enough protein equal slowed weight loss?

I haven't been doing well at all with drinking my protein shake everyday.  I only have to drink one now (per the nutritionist) since I am getting about 6-9 ounces of protein in with my food, but I am just really slacking.  My weight loss has slowed and I was wondering if the slowing was related to not drinking the protein or if this the slowing was just to be expected. Any thoughts?

Maddie,

at about 3 months I had a slow down as well. But I know for me personally my weight loss will slow down if i don't get about 80-85 grams of protein in a day. SO even when they told me to only drink one shake I was drinking two because I noticed a slow down in my weight loss... I have just now gotten to the point where I only drink one shake or eat one protein bar a day and I'm almost a year out. And that's only if I know for a fact that I've ate high protein foods all day. If I find that i've ate things that don't have a lot of protein in it or i haven't been that protein conscious I will eat a protein bar and have a protein shake on top of that. It also keeps my hair from falling out... If I go two days in a row with eating less then 80 grams of protein my hair falls out by the handfuls even WITH biotin... So make sure you're getting enough protein for YOU!!! There's only one way to find out for sure. Drink another protein shake for about 3-4 days and see if you lose more. Good luck.

I agree with Jessyca.  I try to get in 80 - 100 grams of protein per day.  If I don't get at least 25 - 30 grams per meal I get hungry in between and want to snack!   However, slowdowns will occur periodically just because your body needs time to catch up to all the changes.  So if adding more protein doesn't jump start your weight loss, don't panic.  Give it a few days to a week and try it again.
