Plastic Surgeon
Hi, everyone! I am looking for anyone's input on a plastic surgeon in the Indianapolis area. I am 22 months post op and would like to start getting some consultations but would like to go to someone who is experienced with WLS patients. I looked at Dr. Janet Turkle's website and it looks like she does good work and is highly praised on this site.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
THANKS!
Julie
Hi,
Congrats on getting thus far in your journey and looking ahead to the new stage!
I used Dr. Grasse, I loved her! Several on the board have used their office for our plastic surgeries!
They submitted to insurance with no problems and mine was completely covered for the panni removal, unfortunately I could not afford the difference to go with the abdomnioplasty but was pleased to receive the help with the panni removal!
Dr. Grasse was very professional and had great follow up as well as great bed side manner! I highly recommend her.
Good luck, no matter whom you choose! Best of luck! Hugz Dawn

Julie,
When I was checking into plastics, I had heard wonderful things about Dr. Deborah Bergman...so I set up an appointment for a consult. By the time of the consult, Dr. Bergman & Dr. Grassee had left Dr. Turkle's practice and opened one of their own. Of course, no one at Dr. Turkle's office bothered letting ME know that so I wound up having to pay for a consult with Dr. Turkle. I found her to be just down-right snooty. She refused to bill the insurance for ANYTHING. She definately leaves you feeling like she thinks she should be the plastic surgeon to the stars (and NO ONE else is good enough for HER 'talents'!).
So..I set up an appointment with Dr. Bergman. Totally different atmosphere! Everyone, including the surgeon herself, is very down to earth & friendly! My insurance not only paid for the consult but also for the tummy tuck portion of my surgery. I had it, with a full adbo done and inner thigh lifts. With the 2nd procedure, she knocked off 10% of the charges. Total, I paid less than half than what it was going to cost at Dr. Turkle's for a body lift (which..the TT & abdo IS the biggest portion of that procedure). I ended up having intestinal problems which were NOT due to the plastics. Dr. Bergman came and saw me while I was in ICU..that is more than I can say for the family doctor I had at the time (which..guess one reason why she isn't my family doctor anymore!). Recently, I had to have a large hernia repaired & Dr. Bergman assisted with the surgery so that she could remove the scarring that the intestinal issues caused. She has been very attentive through it all. Her staff couldn't be any friendlier.
My husband & I guage new experiences on 'would we do it again?'. The answer to plastics & Dr. Bergman is YES. Because of $$ and FMLA time, I may have to wait until 2009, but I do plan on going back and having the girls done.

Julie, I too had Dr. Bergman and I love her! She is absolutely wonderful! I had a full tummy tuck with panni removal and breast augmentation, lift, with saline implants. I am soooo happy with the results. My insurance paid most of mine and I put the rest on my care credit account. I would love to have my upper arms done but I will wait till I can afford the time off and the procedure $$. I would highly reccomend you to set up a consult with her and see how you feel about her. it is really important to feel a good connection with your surgeon. I will say that my plastic surgery took alot more out of me than my RNY. I was really down for 4 weeks and did not work for 6. It takes about a year to see your final result but I am THRILLED With mine and would do it over in a heartbeat!
Hugs!

Thanks for the info! I will definitely check into Drs. Grasse and Bergman. I got a call from Dr. Turkle's office today, and I got the impression they thought VERY highly of themselves. The first appt. she could get me in for a consultation was in two months. I was kind of wanting to get an idea of what I'm going to need done before summer hits.
Thanks again for everyone's help.
Julie
