Here lately, I have been having hunger feeling in between meals.  I dont believe it is head hunger.  Does anyone else experience this and what do you do about it?  I dont eat only my 3 meals.  Is this normal to be 6 months out and feel hungry?  Maybe I am not eating enough when I have my meals.

Jenny,  Are you getting enough protien in??  Ummm  Its so important to make sure you are getting it all in, for healing, weight loss/maintianance, and muscle strength. I was told  by my Dietician to drink my protien shake when it hit to make sure I got in enough. I found when I don't get in atleast 70grams a day I have a problem with being hungry. If it is emotional, try to journal "what am I feeling? Whats eating me?" Those 2 questions have helped me to see whats going on with me. I also use Sparkpeople.com and log in my food, so I can make sure I am getting it all in, & not either over-under eating.Hang in there gal, and call your Dietician for advice- they are there to help you! Hi Jenny, Ellen is right, make sure you are getting in enough protein.  I make sure I get 75 - 90 grams of protein a day.   If I don't get 25-30 per meal, I get hungry in between.  If you feel you are getting enough protein, try drinking water when you feel hungry.  I have also found that if I don't get enough fluids in I'll feel hungry.  It's easy to tell, just drink an 8 oz glass of water.  If the hunger comes back within half an hour, you need more food.  It could also mean you need more veggies.  If you are getting enough protein and liquids, you may be short on some other nutrients and your body will make you feel hungry trying to trigger you to eat a specific food.  Stop and think about what really sounds like it would satisfy your hunger and you'll probably notice it is a specific food you want.  Don't panic, though.  Hunger comes back to everyone eventually.  I started feeling hunger again at about 6 months out.  I was really hoping it would take longer, but we learn to deal with it.  The good news is that it only takes a couple of bites to get rid of the hunger pains and that makes it a lot easier not to overeat!  Just listen to your body and adjust your eating and drinking to accomodate it's needs.

Thanks guys! I think I will try the protein. I do admit that I havent been getting in what I should be and also have been struggling with fluids, so that is very possible what the problem may be.  I did try to drink a protein shake last night, but only got 3/4 of it down.  So I will try that.  Thanks again.

Hi Jenny you are at the place where I started to add a hard boiled egg for a protein/snack a couple hours before lunch and supper. Might want  to try it. E

For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou has done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.

Thanks, E for the tip. I have got those moments at times too. I will keep the hard boiled egg in mind. I sometimes have problems getting the protein in and that is an answer for that too.

That is a good idea. I just didnt think I was allowed to eat in between meals other then my snack of fresh fruit or  vegetable.  I will try that.  I did drink an extra protein shake last night and felt so stuffed.

I am suffering from this too.  So when I asked at my surgeons office for one of my follow ups, I was told that I may not be drinking enough fluids and that this might be a sign of dehydration.  I cna't seem to get enough to drink anyway.   Good luck, I am right there with ya
