what to wear in the hospital? (ladies)

I cannot believe I have ONE WEEK left!! I'm trying to get all my stuff organized so Tuesday isn't a frenzy of house cleaning, laundry and list making.   Did you wear your own clothes while there? Any advice on what not to wear, like jeans? I have some velour pants I thought about wearing, since the weather is still supposed to be pretty chilly all of next week, and I think that would be fine for the trip back home.  My biggest question is what to wear for a bra? I thought about taking some sports bras, since I can also sleep in those.  I know I'll need supportive shoes for walking...at my class the nurse said Crocs would be OK.   Toiletries I'm pretty well set on...lip balm, moisturizers, body lotion, toothpaste/brush, contact stuff...that's all ready to go.   Anything else? I know I can't wear my wedding rings in surgery, so my husband's going to keep them in his pocket and give them back when he gets to my room.  I got myself an iPod this week (and I'm so excited!) and am going to pack that.   One week from this moment I hope to be headed to recovery and my new life!!

I wore the standard hospital gown while in the hospital. You are really much more comfortable in them. When taking the clothes you are going to come home in make sure they are loose fitting and comfortable. Other than those things it seems like your set. I took some magazines and a book too just in case. Good luck and your new life is about to begin. It is a great life and you are going to enjoy every minute of it.

I don't care for hospital gowns. I got several housecoats to wear there. I made sure they had snaps up the front, so that when they come in to check my insicions, etc,... I wouldn't have to hike up a regular nightgown and expose it all!

Amy, I wore the hospital gowns because they were comfortable and roomy.  Then the nurses had no problems checking my incisions and drain.  For the ride home, I wore elastic waisted pants and a loose sweatshirt....I didn't wear a bra because the band went right across one of my incisions.  I didn't wear a sports bra, because I was so sore everywhere from the anethesia! Good luck! Robin
I always said "pigs would fly" before they approved my surgery.  Guess what??? The pigs are flying!!!!

Surgery won't bring on my period, will it? I'm not due to start until the following week.  My only previous surgeries were two c sections, so goodness knows I had all kinds of issues!  Thanks for all the tips....I'm considering skipping the sports bra, I hadn't thought of it rubbing on the incisions, but I bet it would.  I'll wear a regular bra there, and just see how it goes when it's time to go home.

It could! I started about 1 week after surgery (after years without a period), and have been regular ever since.

I wore the hospital gowns, one ove rthe other like a robe...and when they locked off my IV then started wearing my own jamas....wore Cros to walk and those worked out very well.   Ipod was wonderful to have.....possibly a phone card? I was allowed to wear my wedding band....the nurse just put tape around it....it made me feel so much better knowing I had a connection to my hubby in surgery with me..... Everything else sounds like you are ready to roll!!!!!

Surgery could very well bring on good ol aunt flow. I started spotting a couple days after surgery and I hadn't had a period on my own in years without hormones.

Ok I will get flamed for this.  KISS Keep it simple Stupid.  This is not a fashion show.  Be comfortable. Wear a sweat suit.  This is a man's point of view. E

For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou has done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.
