I have good news and bad news

I went to see Dr. Huse today and I have lost 39.7 pounds since Dec. 17th.  I was a lightweight, so he thinks I may only need to lose another 10-15 lbs.  But it is great that I have no diabetes and my cholesterol and triglycerides are finally low, too.....so no meds for them anymore!!!  That's the good news.....the bad news....

I have to have hernia surgery on April 11th.  My insurance changed at the first of the year.  I went to Clarian for my RNY, but have to go to St. V's at Carmel for the hernia surgery.  I've never been there before.  He wants to keep me overnight just to make sure everything is going okay and I'm eating okay.  I'm a little nervous because of the kidney problems after my RNY, but I think I'll be okay since I can eat and drin****il midnight.  I was dehydrated when I had my RNY but nobody realized it.   Candy

I hope you'll like St. V. I had my RNY there, and everyone was very kind and nice to me.

I was wondering how St. V's is.  I like Clarian real well too, but actually St. V's is a few minutes closer to me, since I'm coming from Kokomo.  Thanks for the good word at St. V's, that will definitely help me. Candy

You will love St. V's in Carmel.  They were the nicest bunch of people.  Sending well wishes and prayers to you for a speedy recovery on your hernia surgery.

Thank you Jenny for the well wishes and prayers.  Linda also said that St. V's was a nice place to go.  I am so thankful that everyone seems to like the people there.  It is a big help.  I like Clarian also, but it sounds like everyone at St. V's is also very well liked. Candy

Ask to be placed on the Bariatric floor.  They can watch over you fine.

2 Chronicles 16:9
For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou has done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.

I didn't know that I could tell them what floor I wanted to be on.  That definitely does make sense to me.  Thanks Eluca! Candy

I also had Dr. Huse and I too had an internal hernia that he repaired on Feb 22. All the nagging pain is now history. It only really hurt (real bad) one time I didn't know what the heck was going on, I was wondering if I could have been dumping but when I told him the symptoms I had (which by the way was 3 days before my 6 month checkup) he immediately said I had a hernia. Insurance is wonderful thing (most days) got me put in the slow track and I had to go through an authorization process in order for him to fix this internal hernia. I just love Dr. Huse. He is so quiet. The thing that I told my husband is that he is so knowledgeable that he just assumes that you know. It is only when you ask a question that he then goes in depth and tells you everything you wanted to know. I did not have a problem eating after the surgery but did develop a real problem eating more than 3-4 oz at about 4-5 days. I thought I had something else going on. He had me go back (I was at 4-5 oz) to 3 oz and when I saw him on Monday he said it will get better over time. Apparently my intestines had gotten pinched so he had to free them up.

So far my hernia hasn't hurt.  I'm praying that it doesn't before I have the surgery.  St. V's called today to get my personal and insurance information.  I hope I don't have problems with the insurance, but you never know.  This is the first thing that has gone through this company for me.  We went from MPlan to Advantage.  MPlan paid for all of my RNY surgery and I was also in ICU for almost 3 days because my kidneys were shutting down.  They paid for everything.  I don't know how Advantage is going to be though.

I love Dr. Huse, too.  The surgery I had in Dec. was a revision from a VBG to an RNY.  I had him for both surgeries.  The first one was 11 yrs. ago.  I don't really think I'd want to go to anyone else.  He is quiet, but we have probably talked more this time than the first time I had surgery.  He is very knowledgeable.  He wants me to stay overnight to make sure everything is okay and that I can eat.  That's fine with me.

Thanks for your information Sue.  It's helpful to know that someone else had this and got along pretty well. Candy
