tummy pain
i am officially over a week out from surgery. today is my 2nd day without pain killers at all, not even a swig "just in case" you might sleep funny. my tummy will not stop hurting. it's bearable, but i'm just being aggravated by it. when i drink liquids (i'm finally up to 32-40oz a day), i work hard all day to get it in, but i feel so full every time something goes in that my tummy aches with each drop. and yes, i'm sipping. and yes, i'm taking lots of time between bites and sips. i'm also having a terrible time deciding if i'm hungry or if my stomach just hurts.
i know that i'm healing which is probably why i hurt in the first place, but should i take a tylenol or an antacid? lol, i find it rather funny that i'm 29 and can't decide how an upset stomach feels. guess that's why they call it a "new" pouch.
oh, and the burps...i burp all the time. i know that i got the surgery gas out days ago. any tips on how to curb the burping? if i catch myself breathing with my mouth open, i stop. i've tried to change how i drink out of my sports bottle, but i'm still burping all the time. how is this air getting into my tummy!?!
ok.
One of the best ways to get rid of the burping and gas pains is to walk!!! Walk LOTS! As far as the pain in your stomach, I really don't know what to tell you.....I never had that problem. Sorry I couldn't be of more help there hon! I just hope you get to feeling better soon!
At Goal! 165 pounds gone forever! Thank you Lord!

I had the same problem with the tummy hurting when you drank something. I think it is just that it is getting use to haveing something in it and you have to realize that your tummy has been through some pretty major stuff in the past week. Just give it some time. I am now almost 6 months out and there is still some uncomfortable feelings when I eat and drink. As for the burping I do that a lot when I eat and drink and it is a sign that I am full. I have heard a lot of people say the same thing and some even sneeze as a sign they are full. Good luck and you are doing great on your fluids. Keep up the great job.
You might try to drink out of a regular cup or glass. Most sports bottles or sippie cups when you drink out of them you get some air with it. You might try that! Also, you might try some Gas X strips for gas relief. They worked for me. If the pain gets worse or doesnt get any better, I would call your doc and tell them what is going on. It could be something else going on. Hope you get to feeling better.
FYI...If you are having terrible gas pains yes, walking is the best for that. Product wise, you may want to find a product that has as much simethicone as you can get. The Gas-X chewables (X-tra strength) have the most, at 125mg per tablet. Most of the other products have 50-75 mg. Good Luck. -Kimmy A
