Flinstone Vitamins
Hi everyone,
I begining to hate the taste of this multi-vitamin. I would take them in the morning, spaced apart by ten minutes. I hate doing this three times, so I started chewing all three at the same time to get it over with. I space my Calcium Citate from these about two hours later thru-out the day, but was'nt sure on the 'RULES' for chewing all three multi-vitamins at once ??? Any suggestions ???
Thanks, Dave
Dave,
Different people will tell you different things..based on their doctor & their dietican. My endocrinologist told me to do my synthroid first, wait at least 4 hours and then take the multi-vitamin..and I could do all of them at the same time. If you aren't on synthroid, you can start off your day getting them out of your way. Then he told me to wait at least 4 hours to do the calcium. Again, I do these at once (I am lucky enough to still have some of the citrucal chews left). I'm on a new meds now too that I have to do twice a day. With it, I have to wait at least 1 hour after taking any of the meds I'm on or 2 hours before. So...I do my synthroid when I get up (~7), this new med at ~8 am & 6 pm, vitamins ~noon, calcium ~10. Vitamin-wise, my bloodwork has always been fine with the exception of needing more Vitamin E...a weird one to be off but I upped my conola oil intake and that seems to have done the trick (canola oil also helps to improve your good cholesterol...which also needed improvement for me).
Congrats on being post-op!

Hey Dave! I was told by Dr. Evanson at a support group meeting that you could take all the vitamins together. But you don't want to take your calciums for a couple hours later, because the iron will bond to the calcium (or something like that) and you won't absorb it. My labs at 1 year were fine, doing it this way.
I prefer the taste of the Equate brand of flintstones. This is the wal-mart brand.

I take my vitamins in the am and calcium in the pm 2 hours apart. No trouble with the vitamins but I am have trouble with swallowing the calcium. I got Citracel Petites and cut them in half, but they still don't want to go down. I have tried crushing them and taking them with a spoonful of pudding,
but it went onto the floor because I couldn't stand the taste. Before surgery I was eating the chewy caramal and chocolate calcium bicarbonate that went down just fine. Any suggestions?
