How do you remember??
I seriously am having issues with remembering to eat. It's not as bad if I'm at home I can set a timer or something but I still haven't felt hunger and so I really do not remember to eat sometimes if I get busy or side tracked. Yesterday was plum awful (I only ate twice and one was a string cheese and the other was about 2.5 oz of chicken and a tbsp of rice) and I need a good butt kicking for it. I'm going to eat a string cheese before I go to bed but technically it's wednesday now sooo i don't know.
I don't know how to help you to remember, but you need to. You need nutrition and healthy, good foods. You will seriously mess with your metabolism if you don't eat regular meals, in my opinion. I would think by slowing it down, you might make it harder to maintain weight loss later. Maybe you could set an alarm clock when you're home?
Misty,
I think alot of it is what you get your body in the habit of doing. Pre-op, most of the time, we ate not because we were hungry, but because it was what we did at that particular moment...every day. When I was a smoker, it was the same thing. I ALWAYS lit my 2nd cigarette at this stop light on my way to work. I ALWAYS lit my 2nd one at this railroad on the way home. So...when I quit? I changed my route to work & home! I took away those signals to light up and it definately helped. When you want to establish a habit..and that is what eating right has to become...and then often, you have to establish 'signals'. For me, I start my day by taking my synthroid and then drinking a protein drink & some water while I am on the pc. It takes me about 1/2 hour to drink all of that. About 1/2 hour later, I go get breakfast. By the time I'm done with my pc stuff lately, it's lunch time. Dinner is no problem....Bill let's me know when he's getting hungry...lol. At work, it's even easier. I have my breakfast ~7:30, lunch at 11. We have dinner somewhere between 4-6 usually. Your body gets use to being in whatever habit you get it into. I heard once that if you do something for 21 days, it becomes a habit. Try eating at the same time every day for 21 days and see if your body does become accustomed to it! I bet you it does!!

I have the same problem. Since I am only 19 days out, I hope to get into a better routine. I remember to eat breakfast (which I never did before), but when it comes to lunch, I usually don't remember until about 3 or 4 that I haven't eaten lunch yet. That's because I have to take my morning medicine and drink some protein shake and some water and then wait 30 minutes. And don't forget the calcium. If I eat at that time, then I don't eat dinner because it would be too late. Then I have more meds in the evening to take. I have a digital timer that will go up to 9 hours that I use to time my meals and time between meals and meds, and to space out my meds. So I guess the best thing is just to keep the timer with me when I go somewhere. I am going to start taking cheese or something with me when I go out, because I never know if I'll be home at the time I am supposed to eat.
Another problem I am having is drinking and eating my protein. So far about the only meat that I find taste good is ham. I am going to try a little chicken breast tonight. I have tried a couple of different whey proteins, but they just don't taste right. Any suggestions on getting enough protein?
