Dawn, Thank you so much for the reminder! Now, if only ALL surgeons told their patients that! My sister had her surgery in Nashville, TN 4.5 years ago. Not only did her surgeon not tell her what or how to eat, but he didn't tell her to take ANY vitamins! When I told her about what all I was told to take, she still refused to do any because HER surgeon didn't tell her to! I no longer associate with this sister (long story for those newer on the board) so I don't know if the effects of her stubborness has kicked in yet or not.  And to think, she's an RN                                                                                              Sherri

Hi Everyone, I am not post op yet but I have a friend that had her surgery two years ago in Maine and she never took her vitamins either. She now has severe anemia and is having trouble getting her iron level up. She is currently on 3 iron tablets a day and was told if that doesn't help she will have to have blood transfusions. I plan to take all the vitamins my doctor recommends and have started taking some preop just to get into the habit.
