Are there any anti inflammatories we can take post op??

I was playing at the park with my nieces and Richs cousin. I was bout 3-4 foot off the ground on a see saw type thing holding onto Marissa and the shot us up quickly and Marissa started to fall I managed to keep her on but fell off sideways pretty hard on my right arm/elbow and shoulder. The swelling isn't terrible and is looking better with ice some. I don't think it's broken. It hurts really bad to move it and some pain with movng my fingers too but its a little better now. I can straighten my arm again  after I got my niece to help me pull it straight and it popped really good (possibly back in place I think because the huge lump is gone that was on the side of my elbow). I can move it some now but it still hurts. Anyways if anyone has any suggestions please share. Tylenol is doing a whole lot of nothing for it.

OUCH!!! Oh girl, I hate it you were out having fun and hurt yourslef- but you did a great thing in not allowing her to get hurt!!! If the pain continues to be unbearable, you might need to go to the ER- just might need a cortizone/steroid shot, or meds. Misty, Sorry I am no help on suggestions! BUT I wanted to say, I hope that you are feeling better soon and happy that Mariisa is ok! Too bad that having fun has to HURT sometimes! Better luck, next time! Keep moving though- you are doing awesome! Hugz Dawn

i am no help here except sayin...get your tail to the doc!  lol  on that note...i know i could not take my naproxen anymore...which is an antiinfammatory.... i am so sorry you are hurting...hope you feel better soon big hugs kim

Tylenol isn't working at all but I don't wanna go to the ER tonight. I'd rather wait til morning but we'll see.

Sorry to hear you're hurting!  Unfortunately, every anti-inflammatory medicine can potentially cause stomach irritation!  The only thing would be if your surgeon will let you take some liquid advil/motrin along with an extra  med to protect your stomach, like pepcid, carafate, prilosec etc. In the meantime, stick with ice and rest.  Don't go to the ER unless you truly think it's broken, they're not going to do much ... even a pain shot will only last a few hours.  If you can't take an anti-inflammatory, you might be stuck with narcotic pain meds if you need something stronger!

I ended up going to the er. The swelling and stuff increased and it is really hurting bad. My fingers keep going numb also. The doc said theres probally a small fracture in my elbow but its so swollen they can't see anything. He said with the popping and the lump disappearing it was probally dislocated. Basically they told me to put an ace on it or buy a brace at walmart for some stability and to take IBuprofen. I told them I can't take NSAIDS so they gave me 2 Tylenol (I told them I had already taken 4 2 right after and 5ish hours later 2 more and they said it was fine). This is miserable. They want me to keep ice on it for 20 mins every 2 hours and all that fun stuff. Said if it's not feeling better in 7 days to go to an orthopedic doc. I've been in tears most the time because the Xray guy was less than gentle and he yanked it really hard to straighten it. I'm going to try and call Marta tomorrow to see if I can take Aleve or ibuprofen. :(

i am so sorry you are not feelin any better....you would think they would have gave you a lil something for pain....the er is so afraid to give anything because of pain med seekers....sad....and for the tech to be rough with your arm...you would think they would see you in pain and be as gentle as possible....i wish there was something i could do.... i hope you feel better soon hugs kim
