Insurance

My blood is boiling right now. We have bcbs of IL. We were told my total out of pocket expense would be 2000.00. This was through my husbands work. Well I found out today they told us wrong. My total out of pocket expense is going to be 6000.00. with a deductible of 4000.00. We have not planned for this amount. I am not sure what my husband is going to say about this. We were planning for 2000.00 total out of pocket. So we don't have 4000.00 saved up. This is so dreadful to me. I hope this isn't going to cause me to cancel my surgery. I don't think so because the hospital just sent me a bill for 4000.00 for all my pre op testing and I won't be able to take this away even though I would cancel it.

So if anyone would like to pray with me about this. That God will somehow provide the money for us.

Thank

Robin

Oh Robin, that is awful!!! Did your deductible change this year? I am so sorry, and will definitely pray for you.  If the hospital just sent you a bill for your pre op testing, does that mean you've met your deductible already? They'll take payments, and I'm sure their billing staff will work something out with you because that is a huge difference between what you were initially told and what has happened.  Sending lots of hugs!!

I still have like 300 more to meet which isn't alot then it goes to 80% covered. So I may end up meeting the 6000.00 total out of pocket expense. I can only hope they will work with me. If I would have known we would have went with the buy up health insurance at work. It really makes me upset that my husbands work mislead us on this.

 Thanks for the prayer.

I may just have to get a job after this to pay for it. Right now I am a stay at home mom.

I wouldnt think you would have to pay this up front.  There is a couple options you can do to repay your bill to St. V's. The one I went with is thru City National Bank and they buy the account from St. V's and you make payments to them.  I think your monthly payment  is 4% of your balance or something like that. Dont quote me on that % though.  If you call the main line and ask for billing you could ask them though.  I hope it all works out for you.

Robin,  I am definately praying for you!!! I had a lg. bill come in  that my Ins. (BCBS-Pittsburg) didn't cover and St.V's let me pay in  payments,so I KNOW they will work with you. You might check with the Hospital and see if this is a pre-billing, or what.Don't let it keep you from your surgery- perhaps they will pay for some things they are saying right now they won't.Hang in there girl, keep your faith and trust in Him, and and  don't give up. Your day is soon approaching! I/We are here for you-call me, cry, vent, , whatever it takes, just know you are doing the right things for yourslefGod is our source of strength, an ever present help in all times of trouble. may you feel His presence . Robin, I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you! I know that this is a little overwhelming right now! Keep the faith! I know there is also ALL CARE CREDIT! You might give them a try, too! They help finance medical needs- for your family as well as pets! I have had to use them for dental work and they have more than 1 option for payment! If you need more info on them, let me know! I hope that you have this resolved soon! Hugz Dawn

I will keep you in my thoughts.  I had to have knee surgery a while back and my insurance sucked at the time.  They were great about allowing me to make payments.  Think long term!

I will be praying for you.  This is just one more little corkscrew in the roller coaster ride of preop wls.   Have you received a letter from Dr. Inman's office yet?  Melissa from Dr. Inman's office sent me a letter stating how much my possible out of pocket expense would be.  This estimate is based on Dr. Inman's charges being $7500.  However, that is not what BCBS allows, so it should be 20% of the allowed amount which as you probably already know is lower.  I hope this helps to figure out the amount you will need to pay.  When I went to my meeting with Dr. Inman, I was told that the Dr.'s fees had to be paid up front.  Nothing was said about the hospital.   Also, here is Melissa Klage's number and extension.  1-317-814-4580  ext. 6.   Best Wishes, KIm
