Hi!! Is there anyone going to be in the indy mini-marathon on Saturday? I'm walking! My goal is just to finish. I don't really know anyone going and was just wanting to maybe know somebody there. I hope so!!! Wish me luck!

Good luck, Amanda!!! So proud of you for attempting to do the mini!!! I have my goal set on the 5K in October in Louisville for the Susan G. Komen breast cancer foundation! Hang in there, and you will be doing fine. I will be at the finish line in spirit cheering you on!!! Good luck!
At Goal! 165 pounds gone forever! Thank you Lord!

I so wish I could do the Mini. My max is about 7 miles and then my back is in extreme pain. I just cannot run, jog, or walk on pavement! It is so unlevel that my degenerative discs act up. Then for DAYS it hurts to the extreme. I just don't think it is worth the pain!
However, I can run on a treadmill. So I am going to attempt to do the 13 miles on the treadmill at home. (sounds kind of silly putting it in print!) I already do 5 1/2 in an hour on the treadmill. So we'll see. Doing about 9 today.
I look back and I know I would have NEVER even thought of running, walking, jogging for that distance 3 years ago! NEVER! This surgery has been a lifesaver to me.
Amanda:
Good luck in the mini and keep the goal in sight! Envision yourself with your arms in the air going over the finish line! YOU CAN DO IT!
Congrats!
I do wish you alot of luck!! At least the weather is going to be a little bit cooler so hopefully no one will get over-heated this year. It's suppose to be over-cast but not raining. We have a couple of women runners in our group (who always do the mini) and according to them, the weather conditions wil be perfect for the runners/walkers provided it doesn't rain.
I know there is no way I can do the distance right now. Here at work, on May 15th, they are considering it a 'day of caring'. Almost everyone is signed up for one project or another. Some people will be helping paint murials around the city (think paint by numbers) and others will be planting trees. I know mt stomach muscles can't handle anything like that this time around so I was a little discouraged because I usually do participate in Habitat for Humanity. I finally found something I CAN do!! On the 15th, for every 15 minutes (`1 mile) walked (indooors in our halls here at work), Lilly's will donate $1 to charity. I think most of our group are working either 4 hours or 8 hours to which-ever cause they volunteered for that day. However much my boss & co-workers are doing, that's how long I'm going to target to walk. Since it is a at your own pace thing, I should be able to help out for at least $16 worth (4 hours)! They had positions open to sit at a table & take the volunteers names...but I don't want to be SITTING!
