I recently have been drinking no sugar added Carnation Instant Breakfast in skim milk.  But by you being recently new post op, you may want something that has a little more protein. I think an envelope of the CIB has like 5 g of protein. But it doesnt taste bad at all. I sampled the protein drinks from Chike Nutrition and they were the best I have tasted so far.  They ran a promotion for free samples at one time. You might go to chikenutrition.com and write them and see if they will send you any samples.  They have several different flavors and they were all good.

Kim, I drink Body Fortress from Walmart.  It is around $14 for a big canister.  I use a shaker and use skim milk.    Hope this helps Robin

Kim, are you able to tolerate the St V's mixture of milk and nonfat dry milk? I use a blender to mix it really well, and add a couple teaspoons of sugar free instant pudding mix.  Now that I know to let it sit in the fridge after mixing, it is fantastic! I drink 4 8-oz sippy cups throughout the day, and that's a total of 60 grams of protein.   I do have about half a bag of GNC's 100% whey that is unflavored, and was mixing it with 8 oz of Crystal light for a 20 gram protein drink, but it did have an aftertaste and odor to it.   Good luck...the first week I was home I tried so many different proteins, and the original ended up being the best one for me.

I like the Isopure RTD which I poured over shaved ice for a Tropical Sno kind of drink. You might try Ruthanne's recipe:  8 oz skim milk, 1/4 c dry milk, 1 pkg sugar-free Carnation Instant Breakfast for your own Protein shake.

I also found a very plain "egg & whey protein" powder at Kroger which I mixed in almost everything for a while. Soon you'll be able to get your protein through food and get away from the protein drinks. Hang in there.

I can eat as much as I want...I just don't want much.
I'm ashamed of what I did for a Klondike bar...

Hi Kim, I do to "Body Fortress" I  put in my fat Free pudding, Dr Inman gave me a list and this was on the on it.It does make the pudding a like thick, but I use 2 times a day. I can't use anything with with aspartame, ( all of no added suger) I do like the taste. I get vallilla but I think it comes in other flavors. Its 48g of protein, I think per scoop. Blessing ,love & hugs. Gail

Thanks everyone for all your replies.  I will try some of your ideas, and I will let you know how it works out.  I am trying to be positive, but it is difficult to get everything in..pills, food, water..It is a little more work than I expected, but I know it will get easier.   Thanks so much for your support.  Today is looking better.  I found an oatmeal at my old bariatric office that has 15g of protein, so that should help.  It does have small chunks of apples that I have to pick out, but better than nothing. Best wishes, Kim

Kim, Those first few weeks are rough.  Hang in there.  It sounds like you are really trying and that is the most important thing.  I am glad you realize how important it is to get your water, protein and vitamins in.  I would really encourage you to look at BariatricEating.com site.  You can order a protein sampler pack that has a whole variety of different types of proteins and helps you find something you can not just manage to get down but actually enjoy.  I really like using the Big Train Low Carb Chai  mixed with a scoop of Whey Gourmet Vanilla Ice Cream Royale Flavor.  I put the powder in a mug and add just enough cold water to make a paste.  Stir until it is smooth and then finish up with ho****er.  It is really delicious.  I also like mixing the same vanilla protein, water and few frozen berries in my magic bullet.  Pulse it for a few times and you have a very good tasting shake.  I really didn't think I would ever enjoy drinking protein but I have there are some very good protein powders out there.  You just have to be willing to try and experiment.  BariatricEating has a section on protein shake recipes.  Check it out.  It is worth your time.  Also at Mejeirs, Fresh Market and Trader Joe you can find Fage yogurt which has about 13 gm of protein.  This is a thick Greek yogurt that I add a couple of packets of Slenda to.   It is what I have for breakfast every single day.  I have never been much of a yogurt fan but this stuff is wonderful.  At a year post-op I now add blueberries to the yogurt.  Some people like to mix a couple of spoonfuls of Cookies and Cream protein powder to their Fage.   Fage is also worth searching for.  Best wishes, Peg
