Hi all I am in need of some information! I am 1 week out and think I am hungry. Is this unusual? Is it just in my mind? I also need something that is not sweet or sour to snack on if possible. I am having trouble getting in all my fluids and protein supplements do you all have any tips? Any help you can give me will be apprecitated! I am thinking of going in the kitchen and finding something salty and all we have are crackers! HELP!

Linda I assume you mean string cheese when you say cheese sticks? And the turkey pepperoni chips where do you find these? I have never heard of them! Let me know asap so I can get some they sound really good and just what I need. Also how many can you have per day? Also how much protein do they count on the plan? I do really appreciate the information! Do you think this is good on my first week out? Thank you so much Michelle

Nope you gotta wait a few months for the turkey chips and you find them right next to the regular pepperoni at the store.. Yes I mean string cheese... I wouldn not have made it without string cheese. and it is good after a few weeks... When I was first out and I got my head hunger I had hubby go buy me some mashed potatos and gravey from GRAYS here in Mooresville.. the gravy made it taste like I was eatting the whole meal... but that only lasted a few weeks... I think I had a total of 2 orders... REFRIED Beans with shredded cheese also helped.. got the protien and the taste.. BEST of Luck Linda Kay

THat is what I thought. Thanks for the tip though I am sure I will use it when playing euchre at my mother in laws. I really dig the string cheese too. Could I possibly eat that instead of drinking some of the protein? If I lived where I could get Gray's mashed potatoes it would be all over! I would never had the surgery in the first place because of the coconut cream pie! It is to die for! I guess you could make your own refried beans or did you go to taco bell? I am not much on soup beans or refried but I am going to have to eat some anyway.   I really appreciate the information and I hope that I can pay it forward sometime soon! Thanks again! Michelle

Liquid is VERY important.. each string chesse is usually 7-8 grams of protien.. great for a snack... your protien drinks are better. I on the other hand could not drink the protien drinks so I ate 5 cheese sticks a day and drank 5 glasses of milk. THAT is how I met my protien goals at first... I really didnt eat a meal for the the first 3 months.. I just consentrated on vitamins and protien. I do not reccomend MY way... I reccomend you do the very best YOU can to do what is needed for YOU.Here is to your continued success... Linda Kay

Thank you Vicki I am glad that you have let me know that it is head hunger because that is what I thought it surely was! Did you do the pepperoni chips early out? If so did the dieticians know?   Is there a reason for the sippy cups except to slow you down to just sip? I am having a hard time using them. I don't no why but the protein shake thingys are not going through them easy. I have been sipping those out of a small regular cup.   Thank you for all the encouragement and help!  Michelle

Michelle, I remember when I was told "head hunger"!!!  You don't believe it at first!!  I would fix myself a cup of diet hot chocolate with fat free milk.  That helped alot, plus I got in some protein.  Are you eating the sugar free popsicles?  I got hooked on the Edy's No Sugar Added.  Also, maybe a spoonful of yogurt would help.  The reason they want you to sip is so you don't rip your stitches.  I know it's hard to remember, but if you take a large drink of water, it will hurt! Good Luck Robin
I always said "pigs would fly" before they approved my surgery.  Guess what??? The pigs are flying!!!!
