Robin,  did someone who did your surgery tell u about "HEAD HUNGER" or did you do like me figure it out on your own? It would have been nice if they would have told me. I thought I was going crazy! thought that I should have been full like at Thankgiving meal! But yet I was starving! Hey the EDY's No Sugar Add are they the fruit pops? That was all I could find at Meijers. I ate 2 of them and they are great! I hope those are the ones because I bought a box. I saw no sugar free popsciles so I hope this is correct because I don't want a dumping thing going on!  As with Amy H. You live close to me. which support group do you go to? I am going to Frankfort support group at the hospital. It is really small and therefore very informatative. Thanks for all the info and tips Well got to go! Thanks again! Michelle

Michelle, They touched on "head hunger" briefly in our pre-op class.  I guess I just figured I wouldn't have it..lol  I talked to the dietician about it on my first visit!!   The Edy's are fruit ones....they are sooo good!! Right now, I'm not going to any support groups.  I use this board as my support....you can get answers to everything here! Robin
I always said "pigs would fly" before they approved my surgery.  Guess what??? The pigs are flying!!!!

Robin I know that they didn't even touch on it in any class that I was in. So here I am thinking I am nuts!  You are right those Edy Fruit bars are great! After picking them up today I ate 2 of them. Love the raspberry ones! The support groups will help me out also so I am going to go to the one in Frankfort. This way I can see people who have gone through the same stuff I am. I love this message board and the chatroom because you can get any answers you need here! But I miss talking to people face to face. But that is just me because my love of talking is taken care of also. Thanks again! Michelle P.S. How many of those fruit things can you have at one time? The whole box!

Michelle I wouldn't eat that many a day!! lol  They do have some calories in them...can't remember how many.  Raspberry are my favorite too!  When I feel hungry, I drink a bottle of water....that usually takes care of it! Robin

It's definitely head hunger, and probably thirst as well, if you are having trouble getting all your liquids and protein in.  I'm 2 1/2 weeks out, and no way am I ready to take on turkey pepperoni yet...for one thing, it's not on my list! All I have are full liquids for the first four weeks, but light cheese sticks are on there right now.  I found that the Sargento light cheese sticks, peeled off in strings, go down the easiest for me.  I tried the Frigo light, and they are super dry and make me gag.   Good luck!

Amy,  HI thank you for telling me I am not crazy!  I live really close to you and maybe we can meet and discuss this stuff. It is so confusing to me. What are you using for your protein supplement? Which support group do you go to? I am planning on making my support group of choice the one in Frankfort since it is a small group of women they are very informative. If you would like to meet sometime and discuss this let me know.   I have hooked up with the Sargento light string cheese. Thank you so much for the advice

I'd be happy to meet up with you!! I usually go to the Kokomo support group, the 3rd Wednesday of each month, but I'll miss this one.  My oldest is graduating from preschool that night, so I can't miss that! Protein...it's been a wild ride (I have a thread on the subject probably near the bottom of this first page or on page 2!) but I'm doing wonderfully now on the St V's mix of 4 cups milk, 1 cup of nonfat dry milk and 2 teaspoons of flavoring...sugar free instant chocolate or vanilla pudding mix, or sugar free Suisse Mocha coffee.  Yummy! Food wise, I usually have 2 oz of no sugar added yogurt for breakfast (Dannon's Light n Fit), lunch is two Sargento light cheese sticks or 1 oz instant mashed potatoes and 1 cheese stick, and dinner is an ounce or two of fat free refried beans with some shreds of light mexican cheese melted on top.   I'm a SAHM, so I'm usually online every day...let me know if you want to get together!

Hi Amy   I am not sure when I will be able to meet as I am going to Indy tomorrow and then will possibly going to French Lick on Wednesday. I am going to have to call or e-mail a dietician about this spell I am having daily. That may keep me from going to F.L. I will get back with you as soon as I know something. Thank you for being willing to meet with me though. I can get with you at anytime online though because I also stay at home but have no kids. So be looking for me to get on here at all times of the day or night! Also can't sleep! Have a great mother's day at least what is left of it!
