Day of surgery at St V's question
Good luck!! A nurse will show your family to a waiting room while you are in surgery, and then when you are out of surgery, the surgeon will come out to talk to them. After that, they can go around to Entrance 1, and while you are in recovery they can take your bags up to your room. Mine went a bit differently, as they were full the day of my surgery and even though my surgery was at 2pm, I didn't get to my room til 9pm that night, which I understand is several hours later than the norm.
Don't forget your chapstick and your toothbrush...I didn't use anything else I packed...I waaaay over packed. Oh and you'll need your spirometer too. If your family plans to eat in the cafeteria while they wait, they'll need cash...they don't take debit/credit cards.
Best of luck!! We'll make room on the loser's bench!

Carol,
If I remember it correctly, you'll go in at Entrance 5. After I was taken to surgery, my family was escorted to the waiting area by Entrance 2. That's also where you were for your pre-op testing. After the surgeon talks to the family, then they can go up to the Bariatric Wing. They get there by using the elevator that is right by Entrance 1's door. The Bariatric wing in on the 2nd floor and to the left of the elevators. The cafeteria and gift shop are kinda on their way from Entrance 2 to Entrance 1. The gift shop will be on the left. The cafeteria is on the right..but downstairs. I don't recall there being an elevator to go down there but I suppose there would almost have to be.

Just wanted to wish you luck once again! The gals who told you how to do things on the BIG DAY are correct. As far as taking things I really didn't because they can tape the back of the hospital gowns so when you walk in the unit no one will see the MOON! I hope you get this great nurse that I had named Lou. She was the best! If you do will you tell her hi for me? I will be checking in on to see how you get along via this message baord and chatroom. Best of Luck! Michelle
