I have my consult on 5/29 with Dr. Evanston at St. Vs.  I am so up in the air about things right now. Scared/confused/excited/worried... I am sure you all know the drill.  I have a few questions???? 1.  Is there anything they don't tell, that I need to ask? 2.  With RNY how long will I be out of work...I have a sit down job. 3.  Anyone have anthem?  How was getting approved??? Thanks everyone for all your help.   A little about me...   35 in 3 weeks..  a 19mo ds ... health conditions, diabetes type II, hbp, PCOS, high colesterol, high trig. , fatty liver....  you name it  :(   Dani

1) i think you get tossed a lot of info at the pre-op nut day. any questions your consult doesn't answer will be answered there. 2) sit down job...2-3 weeks. i tried 2 weeks. it kicked my butt, so i'd go with 3 weeks. 3) yes, i have anthem bcbs federal. took me less than 3 weeks to get approved.

Thank you for the reply.  I am a state employee and have anthem through the state.  I also have aetna through my husbands work.  So hopefully I won't have a problem.

#1 -- TO be honest I did research for about 2 years so I pretty much knew what to expect during all the orientation there wasn't anything they said that surprised me #2-- I had an office job and had surgery on Monday home by Wed(lap rny) came home to my 3 children at the time they were 4,2 and 15 months and was able to watch them that day without lifting.  Went to work for 1/2 day on Friday just to get caught up and went back full time on Monday and it wasn't a problem.

#3--I had Anthem no problems at all getting approved in like 4 days after submitted. I was 29 hbp, PCOS, high cholesterol, arthritis, and hurting joints and over 100 lbs over my BMI. Good Luck Tina

Thanks Tina... I need all the luck I can get. Do you mind me asking about your PCOS and how losing weight has helped.  I don't ovulate on my own and this last year I have been through the fertility ringer. 6 mos clomid, 2 months injectibles, and ivf.   I'm hoping that the weight loss will help me get pg on my own.

I'm not sure how the weight loss from RNY has helped because right after my last child was born I got a Mirena IUD so I'm not sure if its the weight loss or the IUD or both but I have no pain and no periods(from the IUD) which is great and I don't have to worry about not absorbing the pill good.  Before I had all of my children I lost about 50 lbs and was able to get preg on my own before I lost the weight I did 2 yrs of fertility treatments and a couple of miscarriages.  Once I lost the weight I got preg without help. Do what you have to do to get comfortable with your decision.  If it's more research, ask questions, etc. do it.  I have anthem through the state.  They lost my paperwork.  You have to ride them hard about approval.  Once they found my paperwork I was approved the next day. I have done a lot of research.  I have talked to a lot of people.  The chatroom and this forum are great places to ask questions.   I can't say about the time off.  My surgery is Thursday.  I am out of commision until June 9th.  Carol

I have a sit down job. I was off 2 weeks, and then on 1/2 time the first week back. It wasn't too bad. I got approved by anthem after about 2 months. That wasn't too bad either. Thought I would have to do a 6 months supervised diet, but they didn't make me fini**** out.
