Not feeling good, has anyone here ever taken Bentyl?

Just wondering if anyone has ever been given this?? I keep getting these really sharp pains and Saturday night I went to stand up and went to the ground. I couldn't straighten up or anything the pain was sooo bad. Our local ER took me right back and didn't even triage me right away. I've never felt anything like this pain before it was in the center and radiated down to the left some. He said he thinks it was a gastritis flare up but there wasn't anyone there that could do a CT or MRI (we went to the local ER because I could not have handled a 2 hour car trip as doubled over as I was and I was heaving and everything the whole way there). It took quite a bit to get the pain under some control and he gave me Bentyl and started me back on Reglan. I don't know what happened but it was just really bad and it happened about 30 mins after I ate. I was very bloated and couldn't pass gas or anything despite taking gas x all day long thinking that was what it was. When it got unbearable is when we went to the ER. I didn't call St V's because I couldn't even talk the pain was so bad and I couldn't catch my breath because I was sobbing soo hard. We just went over. I was also a little dehydrated because I've not felt real good and had some issues keeping stuff in. So they pumped me with fluids and stuff. The ER doc said to call my surgeon on Monday and let them know this happened and that he put me on Bentyl or whatever but I'm just curious if anyone else has had it and if it seemed to work?

Misty you need to give that stomach a good talking to.  Tell it to start cooperating with you.  I hope you get to feeling better real soon. I will keep you in my prayers.

i dealt with something similar a few months ago. just started off feeling like severe gas in the epigastric area. i took gas x, and it didn't get better. in a matter of an hour or so the pain increased drastically. i felt like i was dying. what i had was an internal hernia. it ended up resolving itself right before i was taken to the O.R. i was 14 weeks pregnant at the time. i followed up with dr. gupta and she said to hold off on surgery unless it becomes severe again. i have had some discomfort at times since then, but nothing like that first time. i am 25 weeks pregnant now, and just hoping everyday that we are able to avoid surgery until after the baby is here. i'm sure you already know this, but please make sure you let your gastric bypass surgeon know what you have been experiencing. and be sure to keep us updated... i usually just lurk on this board, but i wanted to tell you about my experience. if you have any other questions, or just need to vent - feel free to let me know. fingers crossed for you that it ends up being nothing serious...

Thanks. I'm going to call tomorrow. I didn't get the chance to call today because I was miserable and slept most the day after being up all night doing breathing treatments (which is a whole nother thing). I've had a few of the pains again where it's taken my breath away BUT none of it has been near as bad as Saturday.
