clothing exchange
DS on 11/14/12
I have been cleaning out closets and getting things together for the next exchange. What should be done with this stuff besides laundering....hangers, folded, divided into sizes, etc...???? Please advise....first time getting to actually go!
Thanks so much for the information. This is the first time I am getting to go also. I wasn't quite sure what I was suppose to do other than make sure they were clean and not all stained up. Does anyone know what day this is going to be? I am so excited about going and meeting everyone. It is going to take me about 3 hours to get there from here but it is going to be worth every minute of going.

Brenda I know what you mean. I am driving up from close to Louisville and it takes me about 2 hrs or so....but it will be nice to get to meet people! I am hoping to bring a friend of mine also. She has been doing weigh****chers and has lost almost 100 pounds. She has some clothes as well and asked if it would be ok if she donated as well. We have traded clothes back and forth as we have gone up and down with our weight......Cannot wait to meet you!
Sounds like you ladies have it all together. It is indeed scheduled for July 19th. Clothes should be clean and not stained or torn. I found it much easier to sort by size at home so when I get there all I have to do is take them out and put them on the table. Tables are set up by size (4-6 small; 8-10 medium; 12-14 large; etc.). We have a separate table for accessories, shoes, nightgowns and undergarments. We also separate the men's from the women's clothing.
It's so much fun meeting new people. We always have a good time.
We also bring a pouch friendly dish to pass and the recipe to share. I love trying out new recipes and have gotten so many wonderful ones that I make at home now.
I would encourage everyone to come. For those that live out a ways from Indy, try to carpool. Meet along the way and that will help you save $$ on gas. By the time July gets here who knows how much gas will be. Carpooling might mean the difference between someone being able to attend or having to miss it again. Help a Hoosier Losser out if you can.
Looking forward to meeting all the first timers and seeing everyone else again.
Don't forget the next outing is Holiday World on the 27th. Hope to see you all there!!!

Kim...It will be at Robin's church again. It was a great place and they were very good to us. I don't have the exact address but it is on the west south west side of Indy kinda somewhere near the air port. As the time gets closer there will be lots of posts with all the information you'll need so you can find it and come enjoy yourself.
We leave the left over clothes for the church's clothes closet. The church also operates a food pantry so we might ask those that can to bring items for it. It is totally voluntary though. The exchange is open to all pre-op and post-op folks who can make it and no one is obligated to pay or donate to attend. There is no fee to attend the clothing exchange and ALL donations are voluntary. No one will think any more or less of anyone that does or doesn't donate. Okay, I just wanted to make that clear so there are no misunderstandings.
Looking forward to meeting you all in the VERY near future.

Keeping my fingers crossed that nothing happens so I can finally come to one of these things! I live way down south so if anyone needs a ride, let me know. I usually take I 64 to I65 to Indy so if anyone lives along the way, we'll be happy to pick you up. I drive an suv so we'll have plenty of room for the clothes and the guests! Troy usually comes along too so he can do the lifting if we need him to.
Smooches,
