Hi Everyone,  I had my surgery follow up on Monday with Dr Cacucci.  The assistant gave me a pedometer.  I know what you do with a pedometer.  Is there a formal assignment with it?  I wasn't given one on Monday.  Can someone help?  Thanks, Carol

Carol, how are you feeling? That's awesome they gave you a pedometer...hope I get one next week at my first follow up! I have a feeling it's a motivational tool to get you to be aware of how much you walk each day, working your way up to the generally recommended 10,000 steps per day.  My first week post op, I was lucky to walk a mile each day...now I'm averaging 3-5 miles per day, so I'm sure I'm getting 10K steps. Good luck and welcome to the Losers Bench!

Carol, That's cool. I would just try to get in a little more each day. 1 mile is approximately 2,000 steps. If you put on the pedometer as soon as you get up, you'll be amazed at how quickly you get those steps in! I think it's the American Heart Association that recommends 10,000 steps per day (5 miles)..not a bad target for us.  Sherri
