FOOD...it's just not the same anymore...

I think what the problem is, is that we don't get enough food to actually TASTE it--so it's just not satisfying.  For me since surgery I have to spice everything super spicy just so the taste lingers in my mouth.  That way I actually FEEL like I ate something.  BUT food just isn't satisfying anymore--I don't get the same feeling from food anymore--I don't enjoy eating because it tastes good in my mouth BUT when it gets to my tummy it doesn't feel comfortable.  Before I never felt the food in my stomach so I just kept eating but now since surgery I feel every bite in my stomach.  I'm grateful and NOT complaining because I've lost 178lbs as of 5/11/08 and that's since 1/22/08.  I'm just explainging how food is for me nowadays and wonder if anyone feels the same??? ~Angie!

Angie, Congrats on the weight loss. I think you're probably very close to your way of thinking. I spice things up more now too. I like mustard now..and LOTS of onions & garlic..and sf DARK chocolate (I use to just liked Milk chocolate). I find myself adding pepper now. I have several varieties of rubs. Shoot...I love my Pampered Chef garlic induced canola oil!! Enjoy this time. As you get further out & can eat more, I think the food is alot more satisfying because you have discovered how to spice it..instead of just woofing it down. Sherri

Thank you for the compliment Sherri.  Spice has become more prominent in my meals now--I have tried things I've never had before and am learning to enjoy food but just the amount that my tummy will allow---I just miss the comfort I guess---I guess food isn't my best friend anymore and I need to accept that---it's becoming my enemy...

Angie, I like the way you said that food isn't your best friend anymore. I feel the same way and now I am my own best friend. I like that MUCH better.  I like to think of myself as savoring my food now instead of just inhaling it like before. I am learning to eat like a normal person does. It may have taken me almost 54 years to do it but at least I am there now. I always said that I could be a slow learner on some things. lol Congratulations on your weight loss and your new and wonderful life. It just keeps getting better and better to me. How about you? I am sending you love and big hugs!!!!

It feels good not to be controlled by food---I still sometimes think about what resturants are at the place we're going but for totally different reasons now---now I wonder if there's something I can eat there instead of what all I'm going to order lol.  thanks for the love and hugs---sending some back to ya girly
