I'm just curious to hear what everyone's favorite protein supplement is.  I need to increase my protein now, and I'm going to start by trying the protein shake (4 c milk + 1 c dry milk) but it's my understaning that most people don't care for this mixture, so I wanted to know what other products you've found that you absolutely love (or can at least tolerate).  Thanks in advance! Try adding a small package of sugar free pudding to the shake.  It gives it great flavor. Since my body decided to not tolerate milk, I have been using Isopure.  The Grape Frost is great. Carol

Melissa.... So glad to see another patient of Dr. C!!!!!  I use EAS AdvantEdge Carb Control Cafe Caramel...it tastes like an iced coffee....or the Dark Chocolate Fudge.  Ready to drink and I get mine at Kroger...usually stock up on it when it is on sale!!!!!   I could not tolerate the shake mixture....it gave me gas pains that were worse than the post op pain!!!!!  I also have used the bullets....not wonderful, but tolerable and a quick way to get the much needed protein in.  And the Unjury nonflavored protein powder...you can put it in just about anything....just have to watch the higher temperature things like hot drinks. Hope this helps..... Hugs, Holly

Melissa, Initially, I could do the St. V's shake ok. I added lime or lemon jello mix to it. When you mix it up, be sure to let it settle at least a half hour before you drink it. Otherwise, you are going to be introducing all those air bubbles to your pouch. That can hurt as well as give you gas. Although...when you are a new post-op, alot of your gas is probably still from your surgery. As you get further out, you'll want to experiment to find the 'yummy' thing for you. For me..and I do NOT recommend this to anyone less than 6 months post-op...is AchievOne protein drinks. There's a little bit of caffiene in them and caffiene can cause ulcers to a new pouch so wait before trying this drink. Myself, I seriously need to buy stock in the company!     Sherri

Hood Calorie Countdown chocolate milk and good old skim milk.   I struggled with the mixture after surgery like crazy and used Isopure from GNC.   I don't know if this happened to anyone else, but Isopure gave me a heartburn sensation.   A couple weeks after surgery, I started drinking 1% milk and was able to drink enough milk and eat enough strin cheese to satisfy the protein requirement.   I experienced lactose intolerance shortly after surgery, but it has since went away.

Thanks for all the replies.  This helps, and now I guess I just need to go shopping!  Melissa
