incision redness and pain

I'd call Dr. Jones office. Usually, I would put a warm/hot wet wash cloth on it to help 'draw' it out. Since it would be considered like a 'puncture' wound, I don't think I'd put neosporin or any other ointment on it unless Dr. Jones told you to. Those are vaseline based and have a tendency to not to be beneficial (or recommended) for puncture type wounds. Can you tell I've had a few? LOL! Dr. Jones may want to see you and decide if she wants to put you on an anti-biotic as well.
