What was your deciding moment for surgery?

My deciding moment was a little different and less dramatic.  It was more a chain of events that happened that finally pushed me.  Things like... Being out of breath when I carried my daughter up to bed.  It was so bad I had to sit and rest before I could sing to her. Having to make sure I only sat in my MIL dining room chairs that DIDN'T have the arms on it because my butt would get stuck otherwise. The constant back pain. Not wanting to go anywhere because I hated my clothes and knew I would be huffing and puffing everywhere. Taking Alli and getting 25lbs off but no one noticed because I was so big.  The looks of "she'll just put it back on" if they found out I did lose 25 lbs. Being one of two people to get a 3X shirt at the family reunion (I was the biggest person at the reunion). Not wanting to be intimate with my husband because I was so self conscious of my body. Finally, realizing that if I didn't do something about my weight, in ten years I would be well over 400 lbs and probably dealing with diabetes, heart problems, etc.  I decided to do something about it before I had the health issues.  I was fortunate that I didn't have any co-morbiities.  But I realized I was just running from a bullet.  My docs all agreed with me and were very supportive when I started the process.

My deciding moment was after climbing the stairs in a parking garage.  I was so out of breath I couldn't catch my breath.  I had to stay out of the car because it was too hot in the car for me to breathe.  It took me a good 5 minutes to catch my breath.  After this incedent I decided it was not going to happen again.  At just over 3 weeks out, this is the best thing I have ever done for myself.
