Flash Flood

We were a victim of the flooding on Friday night/Saturday morning. It happened so quickly it was terrifying. We got away from the apartment in time though. Even managed to save the cats. I can check in, only, because Mike thought to grab the laptop on the way out. We got to go home and check the situation today. We have lost alot. We have renter's insurance, but it doesn't look like it will cover anything, because we didn't have a flood insurance specially. I don't even know where to begin with the cleaning out. We just starting bagging up the trash for today. I was most upset to find out that the water currents in the apartment toppled my kids baby boxes down, and destroyed most everythign in them. I can't believe that every little keepsake I had of my angel-baby Lucy is now destroyed. I'm crying again just typing this. I just can't believe all this is real right now. Please keep us in your prayers. I don't know how we're going to manage all this in every way, financially, physically, emotionally, etc.,..

I am so sorry to hear about your situation!  I cannot even imagine going through that!  My in-laws live in Terre Haute but they did not have any flooding, at least that we have heard.  We haven't really talked to them since the major part of the flooding happened. Please let us know if there is anything you are needing!  My sister lives in Brazil so we go that way often! I am glad you are safe though!  We will be thinking of you! Leanne

I can use any assistance, that people can offer. Financial, physical, etc.,... I am particularly worried that our complex will give us a hard time about getting out of our lease. If anyone has any legal knowledge about this, that would help too.

Once the area is declared a disaster area (I think this is what it is called), then FEMA can help.  My mother in-laws neighbor is filling out paperwork for FEMA in the morning because Clinton has been declared.  They did warn her that it can take awhile.  Best wishes, Kim

Linda, I am so very sorry for all that you are going through right now. I am keeping you and yours in my prayers. I am getting the prayer chain out for you and your family also. Know that we are here for you in whatever ways that we can help. I only wish that I lived closer so I could be there for you to help in any way that I can. Keep your chin up and know that Baby Lucy lives in your heart and not the physical things that you had from her. I know that they are very important but the memories that you have of your angel baby nothing can destroy. Know that you are loved and we are here for you. Oh My gosh. You are in my prayers.  Please make a list of items you need lets rally the troops and see what we can all do to help.   As for you lease, there should be an "Acts of God" section and this would fall under it.  PM me with your email address and a phone number and maybe I can walk you through it. I have worked on a lot of contracts and most of them are pretty boiler plate. I can maybe have one of our attorneys look at your lease if it looks like its going to be complicated.  Also the fair housing act might kick in too and help you out.  If they cant give you a place to live then you should have an auto out. My surgery is Tuesday so maybe we can touch base on Monday.  Or feel free to call my cell, I am in the directory if you have it on your laptop. Take Care!!!!!!

Sorry to hear about you situation linda. My thoughts and prayers are with you..... The man I work for Owns the Dairy Queen in Martinsville. He just remodeled the store last month..It was under 5 feet of water. He got off the airplane from Italy, 4 hours later his store was under water....Pretty much trashed...anything electrical is garbage and all the food not above 5 feet gone. The  1 machine alone runs $10,000 a piece...NO FLOOD INSURANCE! They told him it would never flood there. He spent allday down there trybing to salvage what he could, he is in SHOCK! Devistated, I feel for everyone there. Tammi, my coworker/friend lives in Martinsville, the water never reached her house but no electricity for 2 days all her food was gone...She has to try to restock.  MOre Rain heading this way......BE careful and safe!

Linda!  I am so sorry... keeping you in my prayers! I was shocked at all the storms we had!  Thank god you got out with your cats!  I can't imagine how scared everyone was!
