Four days post-op

It has been four days since my rny with Dr. Jones.  I got home yesterday around 11:30.  I will say that the pain has not been too bad so far.   I am just trying to get use to the new routine.  I was able to sleep on my side last night, which was really exciting becasue I am a side sleeper. I was really impressed with the care that I received at St. Vincent.  I still have not passed gas yet.  Is it normal and should I take anything if I don't pass gas today? I am still about 5 pounds heavier than I was the day of surgery, but I am told that this is normal. It has been really helpful reading all of your comments and experiences. I was able to met both Kim and Misty who are a part of our forum while I was in the hospital.  Their surgeries were a day after mine.  They both look great and seem to be doing well. I look forward to sharing this new life and all of its experiences with you all. Best regards,  Angie

Angie, Walking will help with the gas. If you start to get uncomfortable, you may want to contact Dr. Jones' nurse to see if it's ok if you take some gasX. I'd be lost without my chewables ones when I'm post-op! Welcome to the loser's club!  Sherri

Welcome to the losing side!!  I passed gas while still in the hospital, but had a few issues soon after coming home.  Chewable GasX and walking...lots of walking...helped immensely.   Good luck with everything...the first couple weeks were most daunting as I adjusted to my new life, but now, 7 weeks out, I'm loving life!!
