COME ON POST-OPS...HELP ME PLEASE!!!!
thanks to all of you for your advice & encouragement! i will keep you posted. we have upped my meds...if nothing else they will just postpone surgery for a month....i have waited this long, one more month wont hurt...plus it gives me time to make sure my sugars are in control!
so today i am feeling much more positive.....

I'm sorry I am so late answering this, but I haven't been on here for a week or so. I had pretty much the same problem.....my A1C was 9.0 and they said they wouldn't do surgery unless it was down. They told me to talk to my PCP, but when I called her she was disappointed that I let it get so bad and I only had a week and a half to get it down. I was on Avandamet, but hadn't been taking them because they made me sick. I started taking them again and then my doc gave me avandia and glumetza (I think) and I was still feeling sick, but not as much. They didn't say anything about testing me again so I called my surgeon's office and asked them what I needed to get my sugar down to. It had been between 129 and 136. The surgeon said that if I kept it in that range it would be okay. So, needless to say, I was sick the whole week and a half before surgery, but got it down in a manageable range. They gave me insulin in the hospital after surgery (I went to Clarian North), but by the second day after surgery I was off all medication. It is great and definitely worth it!!!
Hope you can get yours down and have the surgery when it is planned, but if not, good luck when you do have it!!!
