Do you all find old habits creeping back? I dont do fast food except wendys chili once in awhile. But at home i try to fix meals we can all eat. but sometimes they like the old standbys and i fix them knowing i cant eat them. But i catch myself doing the taste test ,,and then its like crap lisa you knew better. So my dh says if it needs something we will tell you (and they will). I grew up on meatloaf mashed potatoes mac n cheese corn and rolls and sweet tea and no bake cookies and was told to clean my plate they worked hard for their money. I tell my boys dont put alot on your plate you can always come back for more my dh says clean your plate and i ask him do you want them to look like me. when i eat my 3-4oz and see something left it bothers me to get rid of it i feel i need to eat it but i know the hell ill pay if i do. so if any of you have recipes that will work for the family please send them to me [email protected] i just afraid i cant stop this old habit..

Lisa, I have several recipes on my profile. Try substituting ingredients for healthier versions. Use ground turkey instead of beef for your meatloaf. Make mac & cheese from scratch...use wheat elbow pasta, 2% Velveta, skim milk, and light butter. When I make alfredo, I use spaghetti squash & low carb alfredo sauce. I think I have a no bake cookie on my profile. Go for decaf tea with sweetner. And NEVER feel like you HAVE TO clean your plate!! That is what got me to 352 lbs too! Trust me, no kid in Ethiopia is going to be better fed if you happen to clean your plate! I have a tendency to do this little sigh when I'm full. I no longer see if I can eat past that sigh! One sigh, the plate is removed from in front of me. Stick to your guns with your boys! Good luck!                 Sherri

Hey Sweetheart I know what you mean about cleaning your plate! My parents were the same way and it was always fried potatoes and some kind of fried meat! Then at my grandparents we ate home cooked meals and then on the way home it was " Are you hungry if so we can stop at BURGER CHEF and get you something?" SO how could you turn that down? At this point my dh is fixing himself some TV dinners and eating at the fast food joints. Just want to wish you good luck fixing them meals! I am having so many problems I don't think I will ever eat real food again!

Lisa, I have several recipes that I do so when I get a chance I will copy some of them down and e mail them to you. Just bear patiently with me because I have a tendancy to be forgetful!!  Hold to your guns on how you do things with your sons. I happen to think that what you are saying to them is the correct thing to do. My parents always said that there was little kids overseas that went without so we better eat. I was lucky though because they never made us eat stuff that we didn't like. My sister who is 7 and a half years older than I am once made the mistake of telling mom that she could send her food to the overseas kids lol and trust me she never did that again!!!! I am one that uses a lot of canned chicken for chicken salad. I really like the canned chicken at Aldi's the best and you get a big can for I think about a 1.69 or something like that. It is just Bill and I but I have to really watch what I spend too. Prices are outrageous. I hate to throw away food too but I am thinking now that I would rather throw it away and like where I am at than keep it and go back to being miserable.  I am kind of like Sherri but instead of sighing I burp little burps and I know that I had better stop or there is going to be problems and I don't want to go there for sure!!!! Just keep on keeping on and remember that you are doing great and you are making such a change for the better in your life. I am sending love and big hugs to you.
