Binder???? Fruit???

Hi All.  Couple of quick questions 1) How long do you have to wear this binder?  I am one week out today and I left it off after my shower this morning and I actually feel better with it off!   called the dr. yesterda but they are yet to call me back. 2)Can I blend up fruit in my protein shakes?  I picked up the cookbook from my preop class and so many in the Phase one have fruit in them.  Can I have blended fruit? Again lft a message for the nut but they have not called me back. Thanks, Kim

I can only go on what I did, Kim but each doctor is different. I would check with them and go with what they say.  Personally I would undo the binder and most of the time lay on the bed because of the staples. I had an open rny so I had like 35 staples. I think I got to take it off for good when I was a couple of weeks out. My doctor's PA told me that it felt alright it was alright. If I felt like I needed it especially when I went out then to wear it.  I don't see why you can't put fruit in your shake. As long as it is pureed and not in chunks it is alright.  Wishing you the best and you are doing great. Remember we have to crawl before we can walk and walk before we can run. You are going to be running in no time at all. Promise!!!!!

1) I had mine off for 6 weeks- it helped with my pain & to hold me in.  2)I also used  frozen bananas, strawberries,peaches, and blueberries- all pureed, in my fruit protien smoothies. Pam P. put some great reciepes here online. check them out! YUM!  You are doing great, just keep sipping & walking girl!

I would take my binder off when I was just laying or sitting. When I would get up to do my walking it helped to have it on.  I would say after a couple weeks you probably wont need it at all at least I didnt.  As far as the fruit in your protein shakes, I would just shoot your nut an email or call them.  It should be ok, but it might need to be considered food and not a liquid.
