How can we HELP?

Hi everyone! As you might have read one of our gals and her family are in trouble! How can we help? Is there anyway we can get her utilities turn on or even the phone? I am unable to pay anything on this as my husband and I are just about as bad off. Of course we will be borrowing money off of my mother-in-law so that we won't have to go to the extreme that LaChelle and her family will. If we could take up a collection to help them I think that would be great! Please let me know what you all want to do! I am going to be down there this weekend and I hope to get a hold of her. If people who live down there near LaChelle knows of local services which normally help people, please contact LaChelle very soon with the details. It would be great if she could avoid all those reconnect fees.

I wish I could help but right now, I'm kinda fighting some $$ issues myself (still from being off of work for so long while on medical leave). Playing catch-up is one of the hardest financial games anyone can find themselves trapped in.

I agree with both of you.  It is so hard for all of us right now.  We are in the same situation and trying to keep our heads above water.  Would it be possible for us to get as many as possible to send her a $5 money order or $5 bill.  Even if only 10 of us do it... that would help her so much.  What do you all think?  I am all for it.

Rather than putting a dollar amount for everyone, I'd like to ask everyone to just look within their hearts and send what they can afford...and what God leads them to send. I personally will be sitting down with my bills tomorrow or Monday. I'll be including a check to LaChelle...not sure how much (won't know till I see how much is left after I pay what I have to pay). Tracy is right though....most of us can afford at least $5 and every single dollar will help. It would be terrific if people could try to have something to go out into the mail on Tuesday. And if anyone can't afford to send any money, I KNOW you can afford to do what LaChelle & her family need the most....pray for her & her situation. Trust in God to lay it on the hearts of those who can afford it to send money.

I have found that this group on here is terrific for raising help when help is needed. When Dawn had her house fire, people not only donated clothes, household items, and even games for Markie, but also sent enough money to more than cover the deductible on her home owner's insurance. When Jodi was going through the chemo & radiation and she & her mom needed help (financially & man-power), people donated their time, cooking skills, and money. And when I needed prayer because of being in a coma, everyone knelt on their knees and asked God to take control over my situation. Over and over I have seen where the OH Hoosiers pitch-in and do what is needed for one another. Even yesterday when I needed a ride to the hospital for my colonoscopy, Cindy Perry volunteered to give up her day off to do that. In all of my 47 years, I have never been part of a group of such loving, caring people. I am so very honored to count each of you as my friend.....

I forwarded a list of people, organizations, and groups that can assist her back when she was facing eviction as well as made some calls. Unfortunately with it being such a small area, there is not an abundance of help out there and the surrounding counties only help their own ( at least the ones I spoke to). I posted on the Kentucky board for help as well. If anyone else knows of another avenue she might try, let me know and I can always drive over to pass it on as well. Thanks!

Based on LaChelle's last post, you might want to print that list off and snail mail it to her. It sounds like she was going to try to sell her computer to help cover some of the expenses...so she may not have access to her email for a little bit.

I think that she meant that she had emailed her this list a few weeks back when she posted about being evicted rather than just emailing it to her recently in the last few days! Hope this helps! I had to reread it to get it also!

How are you feeling! I read the email of the pics- yuck! I sure hope that you have some answers soon! I have some things to drop by! Is there a time that might be convenient? Getting ready for the race? My mom has been talking about getting tix for us. We will see! I am pretty broke after concocting to get the guys Bears/Colts opening day game tickets, so we will see! I need to go. I need some fun too! LOL!!!!

I am working around appointments. I'd been using vacation time or flex-time  to cover the time away but I just had it approved for me to have an intermittent medical leave for 16 hours per month...for a year. Dr. Gupta's nurse had requested only 16 hours thinking of the surgery to close my belly up would be a success. She wasn't planning on it not being...nor did she include all the time all for all the tests with Dr. Fecht or his or Dr. Bergman's appointments. She offered to send in an admendment of hours request once we have a better idea of how much I'll be missing. In light of what happened with my belly now, on Tuesday, I'm going to ask to be put on desk duty...no lab work. I'm just too afraid of anything getting spilled/splashed on my belly. Besides, I wouldn't be able to lift anything anyway. I'm sure if he wants a doctor's note to do this that Dr. Gupta would have no problem supplying that. I didn't want to ask her though in case she decides to put me on medical leave instead. With my belly opened up & the mesh exposed so much, that wouldn't surprise me at all.I'm hoping to avoid that if I can...financially, I just can't afford that again so soon.

Bill's home most days and we're home most evenings. Other than running to WalMart tomorrow, we plan on being home tomorrow (Monday). Just give us a call whenever you/Mark want to stop over.

We have our 3 hour tickets but Bill is having so many problems wit his eyesight and me with my belly that we're just not sure if we'll be able to use and/or enjpy them this year.
