Clothing exchange and pitch-in October 4 !!!!!!!!!!!
I have a suggestion for the 15 minute rule. (First let me say, I have NEVER been to an exchange and in no way shape or form this is meant to be derogatory!). How about a kitchen timer? It is very loud and when 15 minutes is over, the bell would ring and Robin you wouldn't have to remember to let everyone know 15 minutes are up! Maybe it wouldn't work 'cause like I said I've never been to one and don't even have the foggiest how it is set up. But just a thought to help you out!
I think the way I will do it this time is the honor system. There is a clock in the fellowship hall so when it is about 15 mintues everyone is welcome to go through the clothes.
And Maybe I should have made the reminder more toward the actual day. When I first put the exchange out on the message board it almost seems like its a big deal I have to agree I wasn't tactful about it. So sorry guys I will try to be more tactful.
Looking forward to seeing everyone. Can't wait!
Robin
My surgery is 10/14 so I will still be pre-op.... I'm sure there are good reasons for the 15 minute rule and reasons behind it. But, It kinda makes me feel like the last kid picked at recess...guess I will wait until I am post-op and go to the next one.
I wasn't going to post this because that's not like me. And I not offended, I am pretty tough skinned but I thought if it was putting me off it might be others too... just my .02.

Danni,
The 15 minute rule is not to exclude anyone. DO not be offended. I went to 3 of them before surgery and stocked up. There will still be PLENTY of clothes for everyone. I PROMISE! That rule was put into effect, I believe, for friends of pre and post ops that were not getting surgery. DO NOT TAKE OFFENSE! The 15 minutes goes super fast anyway and we are so busy chatting you don't even realize its going on. Please come and join us....shanna

I MY RNY!
I know I really want to come and I have lots of clothes to get rid of. I missed the last one because my son and his family were here visiting from Arizona. I need to go through my closet because I had on a pair of size 8 pants today that was big in the waist. Good thing for belts. I know I have some 10's in my closet and I am sure they are on the loose side. I am at my goal now and struggling to maintain. So far I have been able to stay within a 1/2 pound up and down from where I was the week before. I think it is so much harder to maintain than to take it off. I don't know what I will bring to eat but when time gets closer I will figure it out.
Im so exsited to Join everyone on the losers bench so I can come. I think I want to come just to mingle and bring food to the pantry...FOOOD I CANNOT EAT ever again.....YEEEEEEEEEEEEE WHOOOOOOOOOOOO.....
I have some really great clothes. I cant wait for someone else to love them as much as i do.
What about shoes...can we bring shoes.?

I brought shoes the last two exchanges. What clothes aren't picked up from us, gets donated to the church clothing closet anyway, so it gets used by someone in need. Besides, your feet loose weight too! LOL I dropped 1 1/2 shoe sizes in no time at all!
At Goal! 165 pounds gone forever! Thank you Lord!

I think Shanna has a great idea with the challenge! The last exchange was also my first. I was scared crap less to walk in there alone but I did it. i normally hang on the Kentucky board since that is closer to where I live and I had my surgery there, but I immediately felt welcomed and not out of place at all. I had met a few of the ladies at a lunch/shopping get together a month or so before so that helped, but I do not think it would have made a difference! People came up and introduced themselves and I actually had a great time! i am actually very nervous and shy...but since the surgery I have become alot more outspoken and self assured. I really urge you to go to this!
As for the clothes...omg...more than enough to go around! I was surprised at how much was left over! Hope to be there and meet the people I missed the last time! Nothing like Hoosier hospitality!
