I have BC PPO insurance.  THe policy if from our employer we had in MI before we moved down to IN but is managed under Anthem down here.  Just wondering if anyone knows how quick they are to approve and also are they hard to get approval from?  THanks, Terry

Well mine took forever becasue they keep loosing the paper work, you have to stay on them.  Once my paperwork got in the right hands, because I sat on hold for 2 hours one day getting bounced around, I was approved in 30 minutes.

So my suggestion is to call and call and call and call and call and follow up.

I would call every day!!!!!!

I started the process in January, submitted paperwork to Anthem February 20th and got my approval on April 20.

I have Anthem as a state employee. I got an approval before I had even finished my 6 months doctor supervised diet. About three months into it, Dr. Inman's office called with a date for me, because they had recieved approval papers from Anthem. I was very happy with their coverage.

It only took me 3 weeks to be approved.

I had the same experience as above.  They lost my paperwork at first then I started calling every other day and doing the bounce from person to person thing and it took 2 weeks after that.  Totally time was 2 months wait time.

I feel the only thing that worries me is about the insurance.  I really do not have the 6 month supervised diet cause since I am a nurse I didn't go to the Dr anymore than necessary and even though we talked about weight it wasn't really a strict program.  I went today and she had typed a letter up but it just said that I was morbidly obese, my co morbidities and why she thinks it would help.  She also listed that she had been seeing me since 2006 and I had tried many diets in that time along with exercise and it didn't work.  I have a feeling this isn't going to be enough.  I hate to be a pest to her but would like to get everything together so that it may get approved soon.

Any advice from anyone?

I did not have to have a dr supervised diet, they never asked. I did have about 2 pages of failed diets.
