if you havent noticed by now... i am FULL of questions!! :)
1. how long did you take off after lap rny? i have heard of some people that had surgery on thur and went back to work on tues. other people say take at least a week or two to make sure you are getting in meds, vitamins, and are mentally ready... any suggestions? i am a teacher if you have any thought on that!!
2.realisticly how much can i expect to loose? i know what my personal goal is, sort of. but i dont know if it is unrealistic, not realistic enough, or just WAAAAAYYYYYY OFF! i mean is it ok to hope that i loose 75 lbs in a year? that would not be to goal, or anywhere near, but i dont want to think oh, i am going to loose 150lb in a year. any thoughts??
3.so did anyone else go out and have your "last" supper(s)?? this weekend we are going to texas roadhouse for my hubbys bday. i realize it may be the last time i am there for a LONG time. did anyone else almost feel sad about it??? i havent eaten there in forever, but it is one of my favorite places!!! maybe i am a little crazy

4.how much can you lift after surgery??? my daughter is 16 months old and weighs about 27lbs. i know i wont be able to lift her, but for how long?!?!?!
5.what kind of exercise did you do after surgery? just walk? how long until you can do something else? i am really hoping to be able to tone some of the skin, and didnt know if that was unrealistic too...
6.i have been on meds for depression and anxiety for a while, but i havent taken them for like the past month bc i couldnt afford it, and i seem to be doing ok. like today i feel like i could use something bc i am really anxious!!! would you recommend getting them and taking them again, or try to stay off of them????
7. did anyone try to get protein samples on-line? for free? and i keep seeing an ad on here for a protein thing that is 3 oz, but has 25g of protein. anyone know anything about that?!?!?!
i dont know, i think with it being 14 days away, i am starting to get more nervous!! i am super excited, and can not wait, but i just have all these thoughts... i got to my nut class next week, but i need some answers/suggestions/advice now!! :) sorry to bother everyone, and i will be happy with any help!!!
thanks so much!

1. I was off 2 weeks, and did 1/2 days my first week back. If you have to deal with alot of children, I might want that third week off!
2. I lost over 100 pounds in my first year. It depends on how much you want to lose, where you're starting at, and how well you work the plan. Just do the best you can. Everyone's different.
3. I had a last go around with the Covered Bridge Festival in Parke Co. I went there about a month before my surgery, it being my last festival. I tried some of all the festival foods that I wanted to have one more time. It was my way of saying "good-bye".
4. You have to wait until your doctor releases you to lift, I would imagine.
5. I walked for about 4-6 weeks, until I was released by the doctor. Then I went back to personal training for weight lifting. I tried horse back riding and tap dancing in that first year too. Try things that interest you. I went swimming too, and walked with my dog.
6. If you are not already on an anti-depressant, alot of surgeons send you home on one for atleast a while. You are losing a MAJOR coping strategy very abruptly. If you were on meds previously, I would try to get back on them before surgery to have the steady state built up in your system. If you can't afford what you were on before, get a list of the generics from Wal-mart or another store, as they do usually offer antipdepressants and antianxiety meds on them.
7. Never got samples for free online, but I did order a case of Profect once. I thought it was nasty. Sorry, just my opinion.
You can do this girl!
Keep on asking questions. That is how you learn.
1. I was off for two weeks, but I have a sit down job. I have my own refridgerator in my office so it was easy for me.
2. I lost 149 lbs in one year so realistically you could also. Remember it is about being healthy. You will loose at your own pace. Don't compare yourself.
3. I had the "last" supper for about a month. I ate everything that I ever wanted and then some. 4. I think I had a limit of about 10 lbs for about a month.
5. I walked for several months. Then I worked out at the gym. Now I do Zumba 2 - 3 times per week, walk, jog, ride bikes...........................
6. Dr. Jones prefers that you are on an anti-depressant after surgery. I think that you should talk to her or your family physician ASAP. Most take a week or two to get into your system.
7. I wouldn't try any protein samples prior to surgery. I would try to get any samples that you can for free. You will go through many before you find one that you like. I still haven't found one:)
Good Luck Cassie.......
Keep us up to date.

Ask all the questions you want, that is why we are here. Here are my answers to your questions.
1. I was off for a 1 1/2 wks then I went back to just desk work. I am an EMT so I was not allowed to lift for 6 weeks.
2. I lost total 136 lbs within 9 months. Everyone is different but I bet you will be surprised. If you follow your doc & nuts instructions you should be fine.
3. I had many last suppers the whole week before....lol I bet I went out to 3 or 4 different restaurants. I think that is pretty normal. No, I didnt feel sad about it. I was so ready for the surgery and the lifetime change. You can eat there again, just may have to make some changes and of course not nearly as much.
4. I was not allowed to lift more then 2 gallons of mil****il 6 weeks after surgery. No, you probably wont be able to lift your daughter for awhile. I know that will be hard, but dont do it and chance injuring yourself.
5. I was only allowed to walk and at my 6 wks she released me without restrictions.
6. My surgeon put me on Lexapro when I came home. I took them for maybe 2 wks and then quit taking them. I would think if you are doing ok you would be ok not starting them back up. They may send you home with a script for something. This is just my opinion, Im not a dr. so of course you should always ask your dr if you should start taking them again.
7. Your taste will probably change after surgery. I wouldnt buy any lg. amts of protein. Samples would be ok. That way if you cant tolerate it, you arent out too much money. I would get all the free or very low cost samples you can and wait till after surgery to try them and see which one you like best then you can order it in bigger quantity.
Hope this helps some. You will learn A LOT in your nut class. Its really pretty interesting. Its normal to be anxious about your surgery and its normal to be excited. Its going to change your life tremendously!!!
