Thanks I wish they had told me just to take it for awhile too but live and learn I guess. While it may seem silly to others my long hair is important to me. Seldom have I found people that understand why I like it long most people (like my Mom) have always said why don't you cut it. It's a part of me and I like it so hopefully this will work and it will grow back, thanks for listening just had to vent.

Have you tried "Mane and Tail" Shampoo?  It was used for horses at first, but then they opened the market for human use, and that stuff is AWESOME!  It really is great for your hair, and helps keep it healthy.  There are also shampoos that have biotin enriched into the formula.  There are several choices, and you can find them online.  Also, the biotin works well. They really should tell you before your surgery.  Live and learn......thats what this board is about.  I used to have hair down to my waist many years ago, but I wouldn't trade my short do now for anything in the world!!!
At Goal! 165 pounds gone forever! Thank you Lord!

You only have one life to live, but if lived right, it's the only one you need!

I had shoulder length hair after my surgery.  I started losing hair at about 3 mos. post op. I went and got it cut off and the hair loss stopped.  I was taking Biotin also, but not religiously.  Maybe its time for a new do to go along with the new you. Ha! Im a poet and didnt know it.
Good luck!

I have hair to the middle of my back. I had heard of biotin before surgery and did start taking it. After surgery I started losing hair big time. I was only taking 1000 mcg so now I am taking 5000 mcg  even right now if I drag my fingers through my hair 20 + strands will come out. After showers I see it the most. My brush is always full. People with long hair notice it more because the hair is longer.  Its the same with dogs also. Long hair dogs seem to lose their hair more then short hair dogs. That actually isn't true its just you don't notice the short hair as much as you do long hair. Does this make since?

I am the same as you I am not going to cut my hair I love my long hair. I keep getting worried each week the amount I am losing. but for some reason I am able to mask it with my long hair. If my hair was short right now you would be able to see a bald spot but with my long hair I can mask it really well.  You don't have to cut it. Up your biotin to 5000 mcg a day and wait.

 Hope this helps you

Hi Robin:
Thanks so much for the response, it's nice to hear from someone with long hair too. I am going to boast up my Biotin and try some different shampoo & conditioners too. I may get an inch or two cut to see how that does but not any more. I'll wait this out but it's just depressing some items when i bru**** because it's a big part of me.
Yes I know what you mean about dogs too, I have two long-haired mini-dachshunds. The girl's hair is thicker than the boy's hair and she loses alot more when I brush her than he does.
Thanks again your email was much appreciated.

I too have long hair. I am six months out and the hair loss is finally slowing down. My nut told me to try fish oil and zinc along with the biotin. My hair does seems to be thickening up again after a couple of months of the fish oil (omega 3) and zinc.
