Grrrrr!!!!!!!

And we strike out AGAIN! Grrrrrr!!!!!

I just got off the phone with Dr. Wittle's nurse (the GI). The CT entro showed mild adhesions without obstruction. She said that it was pretty much normal but that Dr. Wittle hadn't looked at it yet. So..now I'm waiting to find out what is next. He isn't comfortable with the idea of doing the capsule/camera thing on me because of being afraid it'll get stuck. I am getting so frustrated over this!! Surely some test will show what in the heck is wrong!?!?! It is NOT normal for a belly to grow 6-7" through-out the course of a day! I should not be looking like I'm 4 months pregnant at 8 AM and 8 month pregnant at 8 pm!! So now I wait for him to read the results...and wait for him to decide what to do next. I am so tired of waiting!! Oh..I did learn I am their THIRD patient with these same syptoms! Now, how very weird is that????

Have they recommended probiotics?

Did that, been there. It helps occasionally with the diarrhea but not with the spasms or the distension...which, that is the REAL issue for me. To close up the huge hernia, a large piece of mesh was placed over the opening instead of the opening being closed. So...when I lay flat, all is as it should be. As soon as I roll on my side to get out of bed...and then for the rest of the day, my intestines push out of that opening. Because of that mesh being there, it's 'technically' not a hernia....but it definately looks & feels like one. Through-out the course of the day, my intestines distend. My waist starts off at 34-36" and swells up to 40-41". It's strong enough to bust through stitches...which is why I have an opening on my stomach right now. The abdominal opening can't be closed up until the distension issue is resolved..otherwise, it could stop the bloodflow and me wind up back in a coma.

They have literally tried every anti-diarheal prescription drug to try to stop the diarhea with absolutely no luck. With Align (the probiotic), I do get a woo-hoo of a BM that isn't total water. But that doesn't last. I'll do good for a few hours and then woosh! But those few hours are better than none.

Needless to say, I've also have had a whole battery of tests over this past year. I am just so frustrated with this. Oh...this is now the THIRD GI to scratch his head over this. I'm hoping he's got some more ideas up his sleeve.

Joe's tummy does the same thing and I was hoping after surgery it would be better. This has all started since your WLS?

I had my RNY 4 yrs ago. In Sept. 2007, I had a full abdoplasty & thigh lift. 10 days later (10/6/07) I was rushed to the hospital. My intestines quit getting their blood supply. A coma was medically induced. My intestines were pulled outside of my body so they could try to get the blood pumping through them again...which it did. Then they started putting them back into my body over the course of the next 9 days. Then they woke me up. I had a football size opening on my front-left side and a huge hernia on my front-right side. And that is when all my problems began. The doctors have been trying to figure out what is going on every since. Dr. Wittles really believed I think that the test would have been positive for obstructions. Who knows? Mabie it doesn't have to have a full obstruction to affect me this way. Maybe 'minor' adhesions in the wrong places are enough to do it to me....????

What have they told Joe he had?

Oh E, it was so good to see you on here! It did my heart good to get a notice in my email that you had responded to my thread. I have missed you so very much dear friend. I hope that you & Becky have time to get back involved with us OH'ers. We sure miss your quiet wisdom.... Not to mention, I can't use my pressure cooker or have gizzards without thinking about you!

I was having severe bloating for a couple months and brought it up with Dr C because I was bringing stuff up more and having pain with eating almost every time... She ended up having to go in a resection the afferent limb. I swear I bloated just like you on just drinking some days, can you have them check this out maybe???
