Grrrrr!!!!!!!
Misty,
How did she determine this was your problem? If I remember correctly, you were having problems with pain every time you ate anything. I don't.

I'm not sure how she determined it but Marta had it done back in Dec, I've had upper GI's and stuff but not since like February. I didn't have pain every time but most of the time. The times I didn't have pain I was pertty uncomfortable. She said thats what she thinks it was at my 12 month and since my nausea isn't hanging around for no reason and I've done okay with most everything I've tried (however I never really got fully advanced back to full solids because I had my oral surgery a few weeks after) soo the real test to see how it's done is when I get back on solids but I can tell great improvement and I'm not bloating at all now except once in a while.
Misty,
I do hope that this takes care of your problems and that you are able to get on with life.
Mine has nothing to do with my RNY. Remember, I had 3 years without any problems. Mine all stems back to when my intestines lost their blood supply..which indicates that there is some kind of damage to the intestines. My pain is from the intestines pushing on the mesh or having spasms that feels like the other organs are getting beat up...or from stretching me so much that it feels like I'm going to burst. I've just been waiting for my appendix to say 'that's enough!'. Food has nothing to do with the pain or spasms. As for the 'bloating'...mine isn't what is considered bloating. Mine is distension. Not to the point of 'oh, my jeans are snug'. I go up 3-4 SIZES within a day. Every day. I've measured & Bill took pics for me. At 8 AM my waist was 34". By 8 pm it was 40". I can't wear anything with a zipper anymore at all. Elastic or bib's...I have to allow room for my stomach to grow...every single day. It does it at a rate fast enough...and hard enough..that it ripped open all my stitches that Dr. Gupta put in my stomach ~6 weeks ago. When Bill & I are out & about in the evenings, people who don't know me (or my situation) mistakes me for being pregnant...about 7-8 months or so along is the usual guess. I'm now on desk duty at work because of fear of getting any chemicals on my clothes with me having an 'open wound'. When the company doctor saw my protruding stomach, he could had cared less about how the 'wound' was healing. I will be on desk duty until they resolve the problem with my intestines. Okay...it's been over a year now..and still no answers.
In this past year, I've had the GI's, CT's, MRI's, CT Entro, endoscopies, colonoscopies, xrays, xrays with contrast, blood work up the yin-yang, stool studies multiple times including 24 hour collections. I'm sure I'm leaving out some tests... I've taken every script they have for diarhea. I've taken anti-biotics for 'just in case' it's this bug or that one (a few of them, more than once!). I've been on a few different anti-spasm meds...the one I'm on now is considered a 'strong' dose but it doesn't always do a very good job. I'm on pain meds. I've tried all the OTC's out there including Imodium, fibercols, probiotics and even activia. I've logged my food, my drink, my bowel movements. NOTHING stands out.
I'm not nauseated. I don't get nauseated or have pain because of food/drink. If my intestines were ok, I'd be ok. They GROW. They spasm and knock everything else around. Because they do this, my abdominal wall can't be closed up.
I'm to the point of total frustration. Thanks for your suggestion...I only wi**** was something that would had been an 'ah-ha' for Dr. Gupta...or anyone else as far as that goes.

Boy do you miss a boatload of information on this site when you don't get on for a couple of days! It will take me an hour at least to catch up! Sherri- I do hope you get this. I will PM you too. I am so so sorry they did not get any definite answers for you. I know you really had your fingers crossed on this one. I know it is hard. Try to keep your spirits up. You are in my prayers. Karen
