Good morning all...

I've been awake since about 3, but gave up & got up about 3:45. I'm hoping I'll be able to nap later. Today is mine & Bill's 8th anniversary so I was hoping to be able to stay in bed & cuddle for awhile but my body wouldn't let me. It's a good thing I have an understanding husband!

We had a minor disaster last night. I've been noticing that it was time for a Miss Clairol moment so after dinner, I put the goop on my hair. During the wait time, I cleaned up the kitchen (we had turkey chili). And then I heard a wooshing sound. At first I thought Bill must have been watching something in the back room. I checked, and it wasn't in there. So I checked the living room tv. Nope. As I made my way around to the hall, I noticed water coming from my bathroom. The water supply line for the toilet had broke and water was going everywhere! Bill had to shut off the main so he could shut it off withou****er going in his face. He couldn't get it off enough there to where it wouldn't leak some if he turned the main back on. So..we knew we had to go to Menard's (just a few blocks away). I talked him into turning the main back on long enough for me to rinse the dye out of my hair though! LOL! Could you imagine me going into Menard's like that? So..we now have a new supply line but now the main is leaking some so Bill has to get a plumber out today. We tried to get most of the water up with the shop vac but the carpet is still pretty wet. I have to go get more baking soda today to try to keep it from smelling moldy.

You know..with health stuff, I didn't need anymore excitement in my life! lol!

I have to get hold of Dr. Bergman to day over my leg. It is still red, sore, swollen and you can feel the heat in it. I'm going to give Dr. Wittle's nurse until Wed. to call me about Friday's test. If I don't hear from her by then, I'll call her. I am so sick of this stuff!!! Oh..to add to all else, I chipped a tooth Saturday. It hasn't hurt at all so I'm thinking that it was probably a crown off my bridge and not a 'live' tooth. I can't afford to replace that bridge right now. I had checked earlier in the year and that wouls be ~$8,000! With insurance!!!

I do hope you all are off to a good start for the week. And hey..for most of you, at least it's going to be a short week, huh?

huggs...

Oh Sherri! I definately know that, "if it's not one thing" feeling. We're still all getting over strep throat in our house. I am going to work today. I shouldn't be contagious anymore since I have been on meds since Thursday. I still feel crappy though.

Then to help things, Mike's check engine light went on Saturday morning. We will have to see how much it's going to be to see if we can fix it. I don't know. Dropped it off at the garage, but they don't open the service part until Monday mornings.

Atleast it is a short week!!!, I concur!!! I will be looking forward to having a break this weekend.

Linda,

Did you know that your check engine light can come off if you aren't getting a good gas cap seal? I learned that a month or so ago. First, wipe off the rubber part good on the cap & the gas opening on the car. If that doesn't fix it, try replacing the cap. If that doesn't work, and then it may be a sensor & would require repair...but for less than $10, you may be able to fix it yourself.

Good Monday morning fellow hoosier losers.  I am off work today, so plan to clean my carpets so when I have company Thursday they will still look nice (hopefully).  This is one reason I am so glad to be working, I would love to pay off my credit cards and get RID of carpet....I absolutly hate carpet!!    I am looking forward to seeing the kids on Thursday its been a month or more since they have been here.  I do sometimes stop in my son's tattoo shop on Monday's to see him while I am in Greenwood taking my youngest son to his music lessons.  His lessons are at 8 pm so I will speak to his teacher tonight and see if he has any openings for earlier or will put us on a wait list, 8pm is just too late for me , however the traffic is good lol.

Work is going good, I like it and it feels good to be working.  I have a light schedule this week because I don't think they thought i would stick around so they squeezed me in where they could and with most folks losing a day due to Thanksgiving they are looking for extra days as not to lose the pay... its fine with me because I am still trying to get used to being on my feet all day.  My feet finally quit hurting so that is a huge plus, my shoulders still give me fits from reaching and pulling all day but that too shall pass.  I will go to Curves today and weigh, its been about two weeks since I weighed myself.

Sherri I am really sorry to hear about your leg, I was thinking that problem had been put to rest.  As far as the dental stuff goes ..man oh man do I feel you on that one, me and hubby had a ton of work done this year in our mouths.  I have more to get done but its not an emergency so I am spreading it out as much as I can.  We got a medical credit card from Care Credit to pay for some of the work so now we are paying that off over the next five years...ugh.  Between the teeth and my surgery we are out well over $10,000 this year in out of pocket expenses, that wasn't in our budget. I think we may get a break on our taxes for this year though, as I am pretty sure you can claim medical expenses that are more than 7% of your annual pay.  I really dread trying to figure that all out as I normally do our taxes.  I will have to lock myself in a room with paperwork for two days to sort it all out lol.

Everyone have a great day, hugssssssss and peace to you all,
Jeannie

Jeannie,

I think it's after you pay more than 6% of your salary on out of pocket medical expenses. We use TaxCut. It asks about your income (W2's, etc). For the deductibles, it asks how much your medical expenses were, and all of the other deductible items. If it's not enough, then it recommends that you use the standard deduction. If it is, then it will recommend that you use the itimized ones...which it already got the numbers from you for. I would really recommend using this software. When we sold the bar, it helped us through the tax maze better than a local tax office could.

Sherri

ps..My insurance picks up the tab at 100% after we've paid out 6% on 'allowable expenses' of MY BASE SALARY (that doesn't include Bill's disability or retirement...or any overtime, etc that I may have). Last year, Bill's artificial cornea, my lasik surgery, and my plastics weren't considered 'allowable expenses' so we definately went with itimized.

Good Morning Hoosier Losers,

I have to get blood drawn first thing this morning.  It's just my regular/yearly stuff.  I don't think it will be any big deal.  Then I am off to work today.  It's my first day back since November 5th.  It feels so strange. After work my husband and I are going to Muncie to get our daughter.  It's break time.  I will be glad to see her.  When I get home I have to put together some Thanksgiving treats for the people in the office.  They are so helpful.  I like to give them a little thank you for the hard work.

Sherri, I can completely understand the "It's always something" problem.  Some times it is greater than others.

So everyone have a lovely day.

Hello everyone. I don't always post on the daily threads, though I do read them. But I have big chores today. I want to get some meals frozen up for my husband and sons for after my surgery. But to be honest, I've never frozen meals and don't know what freezes well. Any suggestions?? I am getting excited about my surgery but have so much to get done before hand. I need to call Dr. E's office today and find out the procedure for getting my short term disability paperwok filled out. Then off for some Christmas shopping. This evening my sister is going to come stay with the boys for a bit so that Gary and I can finish up "santa shopping."

Hope everyone has a great day and stays warm.

Melissa,

I have good luck with chilli & soups. Casserole dishes (rice/pasta) are suppose to be good too but Home Bakes has them so easy that even a non-cooks (ie..most males..lol!) can do them. I like to get the big packages of stuffed cabbage at Gordon Foods. That might be an idea for you...just buy the meals already frozen..hmm..definately the way I would go! I like cooking for a group but hate cooking just for 2.

Oh..with the FMLA, I get the paperwork from HR at work. I give them to the doctor's office. For ~$20, they fill it out & fax it to HR.

Have sun Santa shopping!

Hi Melissa,

I've had luck freezing chili, vegetable soup (or any kind of soup), lasagna, spaghetti sauce, taco meat, casseroles, and meatloaf.  That's all I can remember at the moment, but if I think of others I will post them.
