WHAT IS GOING ON?

I have never been a salt person and ever since my surgery I have craved salt a few times.  Does anyone else do this or know what could be causing it?  I also have been eating more the last 2 days.  What is going on here?  I got to get myself back in check.  I finally hit the 100lb mark and now I am getting mad at myself for doing bad things again!!!!  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'd e-mail a dietician to see what they say.  Never hurts!

Jacque,

Wow..I have no idea why you'd be craving salt. Please let us know what your pcp thinks..ok? Now, as to being thirsty, I wouldn't be surprised if that is just because of the salt intake being increased.

I wonder if it isn't maybe a seasonal thing....? It seems like I crave the salty things more in the winter months. That's also when I'm less active so I have to watch my 'munchies' too. for myself, I think it's party out of boredom because I do it most when I am at home...and physically, there isn't much I can do right now.

Congrats on hitting the century mark!

Hi Jacque,

I can totally relate to the salt cravings.  Just last week I bought some chips and french onion dip (and told myself it was for DH and the kids).  I know I am not supposed to have french onion dip and I know I cannot have chips, but I decided to try one...just one.  And then one more.  Then the next day it was about 10!!!  I was afraid I was headed down a really bad path, but it was just a little bump in the road that I feel REALLY quilty about.

It is out of my system now.  I don't know what it was, but if you have any ideas I would love to know!!

Hi Jacque,
My salt level was low, so that was ahy I wanted/craved it so badly a few months ago. Found I was picking up the salt shaker & I hadn't used it for 4 yrs!!! I depend on the food already being salted, but went thriough a period where I could have licked a slat block! I would defijnately talk with your Dieticina. Drink plenty of water- it will help as well. Let us know what you find out!
Big (((((((((((hugs)))))))))) & congrats ON YOUR 100# WEIGHT LOSS- THAT IS TERRIFIC!!!
