Melissa,

Try to stick with what is on the sheets that they gave out at the pre-op nut session. At your early stage, try to get in your water, your protein, and then your food. It's very important to stay hydrated. If you can't keep food down that is on your sheets for your post-op stage, contact your surgeon's office. You may be having a stricture developing. A quick endoscopy can take care of that for you.

The ticker...

The one I had up, I did at tickerfactory.com. After you get your ticker looking like you want, save it. Then copy the PICTURE of it...not the code. Then here on OH, go to 'User Settings' (left side of this page). Paste the ticker into your signature, and save.

If there's something else we can help you with, be sure to ask. If it's something specific about what is on the allowable list, let us know. I'm sure the list has changed some since my RNY but I'm also sure that someone who is less than a year out (and more than likely on the same list as you are) wouldn't mind helping you out at all!

Hi Sherri-

Thank you I am glad you responded.   It said I could have creamy peanut butter and oh my that was bad.  When I getthe dry heaves it is like right before bed and the only thing in my pouch would be liquid.  Cottage cheese is my best friend right now but saw a couple of wonderful ideas today that I am going to use.

Thank you again it means alot,

Melissa,

You will probably find other things along your journey that might be considered 'ok' that your pouch just doesn't like. I know of some post-ops that are 2-3 years out that still have problems with chicken or beef. Myself, all of it goes down better with a little bit of Heinz. Day to day it can be a new experience as well (even at 4 yrs out). Lesson to be learned..don't try anything new at bedtime. lol. I know I sure don't. PB, although high in protein also contains alot of fat..especially when our tummies aren't use to getting any fat at all. Take it slow. Just remember that what is on those sheets are what is 'allowed'...not what is required. Think of it as you CAN have it IF  your pouch will let you. The same goes toward volume...you CAN have up to 2 oz IF your pouch has room.

Cottage cheese & I are still buddies too..

Melissa I had Dr. Inman also and my surgery was on Oct. 21 and the book they gave us at the
nut class there is a yellow sheet that says To maximize weight loss the following foods should be avoided and peanut butter in number one.  I would think you would still be on the 4 weeks following surgery plan of full liquids, which was page 11 in my book and there is no peanut butter listed.  Please look your book over I think peanut butter would be to much so early out.

Did you have your surgery at St. V's?  I was on total liquids for the first week and then switched to puree for week 2 and 3 and then to soft foods for 1 month after that.  I thought pb was odd too but it is there in between yogurt and tofu...I did talk to the dietitian after that and she said try it again in a few days....So who knows...I went through Clarian Bariatrics for my surgery.  I have a friend that was told she could have mashed potatoes and I was told NO!!!

Yes I had my surgery at St. V, wow what a difference a hospital makes.  I thought by having the same surgeon it would be the same. At St. V for four week we are on full liquids then for weeks 5-8 we go to pureed foods then 9-15 we move beyond pureed so we are not allowed to have peanut butter.  Just be careful.
