Bad experience yesterday
I had a meeting yesterday and afterwards everyone wanted to have lunch together. Panera Bread was the place of choice since we needed wifi. I usually get the soup and salad and have no problem with it. I decided to get the soup and sandwich yesterday. I ate the turkey out of my bread and took the top of my sandwich, tore it up , and dipped it in my soup. Before I knew it I had eaten the whole piece! I was so uncomfortable I had to stand up and walk a bit. Then after about 5 minutes I was so sleepy I could hardly hold my eyes open. It's a good thing my boss was with me and drove because I nearly slept the whole trip back to the office (about an hour). I do eat a little carbs every once in a while like pasta or crackers but that was my first time with white bread and so much of it. I didn't dump but wow I crashed big time. I'm so glad my boss was with me because there was no way I would've been able to drive myself back. It was kind of scary. I felt like I had been drugged! Guess I won't try that anymore.
Just thought I'd share.
Be blessed.

Glad you got home ok and that you did not dump. I have come to terms that bread is no longer my friend since my last fill.
I miss it but whenever I crave it I remember my last stuck episode with it and pass it by!

Remember.... FRIENDS DONT LET FRIENDS DUNK AND DRIVE! LOL
Jacqui, I am so glad you are ok. It's funny how things we eat affect us now. I still don't do great with bread but I also don't try white bread. I have learned so much from the boards about what others have tried.... I am too scared to pu****
I appreciate your post because I will think of it if the situation comes up with me.
Glad you are doing fine and huge hugs!

"Friends don't let friends dunk and drive."
I was sipping my Click when I read that...almost had to clean off my monitor.
Bread - I can eat a little bit without too much trouble, except it fills me up really fast. I can eat a mini sub at Subway if I eat it very slowly and chew it up carefully. That's pretty much my limit, though.
Merry Christmas!!

Sorry you had that experience Jacqui...but I have a question. You said you didn't dump, but isn't the pain in your stomach and the sleepy feeling (weakness) part of dumping syndrome? Maybe I'm mistaken, but when I've had that drugged feeling after eating I've always assumed I was dumping from something I ate.
I might be wrong...but it's just a thought.

Maybe it was a sort of dumping. I've only experienced what I would call "dumping" twice. Both of those times I broke out in a horrible sweat. I mean a soaking wet sweat. Then had bad, bad abdominal pains where I was bent over. Had major light-headedness and a nausea feeling that wouldn't go away. This was nothing like those episodes. The pain in my stomach this time was from being full. Not really a pain either. Just uncomfortable. Like I was full all the way to my throat! Then the sleepiness set in. I don't know what it was but I'm going to try to avoid it from now on!
