Happy Christmas Eve!   Here's our 3 questions for this week.

Topics:  Favorite things

1.  What is your favorite movie of all time and why?

Mine is the Titanic and The Green Mile.  I know that's two... but I can't decide which I love more.  Titanic because of the history in the film and the love story they built into it.  I love history and the who fact that I love cruise ships make it one of my favorites.  I would love to have been on the Titanic IF it had safely sailed that trip.  It was an amazing ship.  The writers made such a wonderful love story into it as well.  Jack and Rose were so in love and they fought as hard as they could to be together... Awesome stuff.   The Green Mile was great because of the way that John Coffey was the savior of the story and he represent Jesus Christ.  I cry every time I watch this one.  Also because David Morse is one of my favorite actors.  He is HoTT!

2.  What was your favorite Christmas gift as a child?

Mine was probably my Barbie Carousel Kitchen.  I loved that silly thing.  It rotated and had a stove, a washer and dryer,  and other things... it lit up and had moving parts.  My sister Cindy worked a part time job in high school and saved up and bought it for me.  I have never forgotten it.

3.  What is your favorite place to take a day trip with your family or friends when you want to spend time out and about?

Ours is Conner Prarie.  We love going there.  It is so neat to step back in time and to see how they lived.  Again, it's history... and I just love it.  The kids love the hands on part of it.  They also get to see how spoiled we all are with modern conviences.  It's an amazing place to visit... young or not so young.  LOL

1.  What is your favorite movie of all time and why?

So many to choose from! I love Steel Magnolia's. What other movie can have you crying your eyes out and then laughing your butt off with one well delivered line? I also love Fried Green Tomatoes though! TaWanda!

With it being Christmas Eve...my favorite Christmas Movie is Miracle on 34th Street...the orignal.

2.  What was your favorite Christmas gift as a child?

That would have to be the roller skates that I had asked for in 7th grade. I loved those skates!

3.  What is your favorite place to take a day trip with your family or friends when you want to spend time out and about?

There is a park near the kids house. We like going there with some chicken & stuff and spending the day there. We usually go there for Easter (if it's nice out) and Myranda's birthday in May. If it's just Bill & I though, we really like Indiana Beach. It's relaxing and non-physically stressing enough that I could even go there last summer with my tummy problems.

1.  What is your favorite movie of all time and why?
This is kinda hard for me because I dont' really see a lot of movies.  I did love Fried Green Tomatoes and have watched it many times.  I also have watched Pulp Fiction many times.

2.  What was your favorite Christmas gift as a child?
Like Sherri I got roller skates in about the fifth grade, man I loved my skates!  We went skating just about every Friday night at the Roller Dome in Beech Grove.  Every Saturday I would spend the day cleaning the wheels on my skates and I would have them so messed up that each Friday the guys at the Roller Dome would have to fix them before I could skate lol.

3.  What is your favorite place to take a day trip with your family or friends when you want to spend time out and about?
I have two answers for this one, with friends or my mom it would have to be quilt store hoping.  I love to look at all the fabric and all the samples of things people have made from the fabric.
With my hubby and son it would have to be Kings Island, I love to watch my son have a great day.  This year I can ride again!!!  I can't wait, I just hope that I am not too old to take the jerking lol. It's been ten years since I could ride the rides.  I took my grandson to KI about five years ago and he wanted to ride some of the smaller rides that my son wasn't interested in so I tried to ride with him and they had to smoosh my fat in the seat and it was rolling over the bar I dont remember a time ever feeling so humiliated.

1.  What is your favorite movie of all time and why?

I think my favorite would have to be "It's a Wonderful Life".  Even though it is a Christmas movie, we watch it year round!  I just love the message!    Tracy I laughed at yours because that is my husband's favorite movie-----can't say "green" without him saying "walking the mile, walking the green mile" and then chuckling!

2.  What was your favorite Christmas gift as a child?

Horrible as it may sound, I don't remember any of my Christmas gifts.  We were very poor and usually got a piece of clothing.  There were 7 of us children.   I do remember one Christmas when I got a doll but I don't remember anything special about it.   Looking back, I always  knew I was loved and the gifts really didn't matter.

3.  What is your favorite place to take a day trip with your family or friends when you want to spend time out and about?

My DH and I and my sister & her DH LOVE LOVE LOVE to go antiquing.  We have all the malls/stores in the area memorized and we go together.  We have a blast!   I wonder if it is about the antiques or just about the time together?

I can really relate to your answers.  I am 7 of 8 kids and the biggest share of the time we got hand me down clothes and a few toys but it was still Christmas.  I think that is why I loved my gift from my sister.  I seldom got new toys.  But I loved all my Christmas's with my siblings.

The whole antiquing thing is so cool.... the time with your sister and her DH is one of the most valuable things you will ever have.

Merry Christmas!

Clutterbug - my husband loves the Green Mile too and does the same thing.  Now me, I'm naughty - I love the speech Toot does when they are practicing for the execution and they ask him for last requests!  LOL

1.  What is your favorite movie of all time and why?

I am such a movie buff that it is hard to name just one.  It's a toss up between The Godfather, and The Stand.  I love Stephen King books and movies.  And The Godfather has always been a favorite of mine - the intricate relationships and why they did what they did.  I always found it fascinating.

2.  What was your favorite Christmas gift as a child?

The two story pink metal dollhouse I got when I was 8.

3.  What is your favorite place to take a day trip with your family or friends when you want to spend time out and about?

Antiquing.  Hubby and I love it.  I am always on the look out for anything that has to do with drive in theaters - one of my passions.  I bought speakers and a sign from the Clermont Deluxe drive in when they closed and have those in my game room.

On vacation last year, we went out Route 66.  We tried to stop at every drive in along the way and take in a movie and the atmosphere.  We only missed one!!

well what is my favorite movie of all time and why?

I loved all of the Elvis movies because I loved and still love Elvis! BUT I think the ones I would have to pick would be STEEL MAGNOLIA'S! It is like Sherri says a great movie to cry your eyes out on and die laughing at the same time! I just loved Weezer and her mangy mutt! Then when Clairee and Weezer were in the cemetary and the line "You know I love you more than my luggage" what a HOOT!!!
Then a very very close 2nd is THE ROSE that was also a HOOT!!! Bette Midlers ROCKS!! The music from the movie is great! The language may not be the best but I can imagine someone like Janis Joplin talking that way. Also there was another Bette Midler that was a tear jerker and that was BEACHES. I loved that one too! Well I better stop because there are numerous ones that John Wayne made that I loved also!  I do no****ch remakes because they are disappointing to me so only orignal films will do.

2. What was my favorite Christmas gift as a child?
As a little girl I think it was a Stuffed Emmet Kelley the clown. I remember toting that thing around until his head fell off.
As a teenager I got a stereo from Montgomery Wards that had a turntable, cassette player/recorder and the 8 track player. I love listening to music and still have my vinyl records today.

3. WHat is my favorite place to take a day trip with family and friends?
Well I used to love to go to craft fairs in the fall with friends. I no longer do that. I love to go to Madison Indiana to explore the area. But what I like to do most is go out on our boat fishing. I prefer to go to Patoka Lake because then I get to go see cousins in the area if it is raining or the fish aren't biting. It is wonderful to go out there and get back in a cove off of the main lake where all the jet skis are. It is so peaceful and the birds are calling and flying around. We used to take our old girl with us so this next year it will be so sad I don't know if I will go or not. ALso if the money situation doesn't improve we may be selling the boat. I hope we don't have to but one never knows!

Hope you all have a Merry Christmas!
