Happy New Year to All, I finally did it I got approved.  My surgery is scheduled for 2-1-07 although they could have done it next week.  I actually got approved by inundating my insurance with proof positive that I am overweight and have been for like forever and I had the proof.  Now I am scheduled to get the cyst removed from my tongue this Friday and three weeks later I get my band!   I am still in shock basically because I can't believe I got approved.  I figured I am going to lose some weight since after the tongue thing I will be on liquids and soft foods so I should be good for the surgery.  I have to get medical clearance and a vein study done but that is all.  I want to thank all of you who have answered my questions and supported me directly or indirectly.  My year is starting up right I believe since I also got word that I am cleared for my graduation in July for my Bachelors degree at 37 years of age!   After the graduation I am treating myself and my daughter to a week in Maui and now I can probably even wear a decent bathing suit.  I haven't cried yet but I know its coming cuz I am just soooo happy.  I pray for all those that are still fighting for their band. I actually sent in seven years worth of documentation because I know Healthnet like to keep asking for this and that so I inundating them.  Plus I made copies of a format that I found on this forum for progress notes for the doctor to fill out and had her fill them out.  Get this, I went to the doctor June of 2006 and July 2006 and then October, November and December 2006.  Not consecutive but I had proof that I was taking the diet pills and still on the diet so technically it was six months.   That along with a study I did myself where I showed my glucose, triglycerides, and cholestrol level for the past 7 years and how they are trending up instead of down.  You name it I did including seeing a cardiologist and getting letters from every specialist I see attesting to the fact that WLS is what I need.  The road was tough but fairly quick since I only started in June the diet but didn't really decide on WLS until November 2006. Now I am on my way to losing and I wish you all the same luck. Thanks again, Norma

Way to go Norma that is great!  It is great to see a success story to keep me going while I am still in my fight.  It can be done. Scott
