Radiologist says I'll get denied
My last thing I needed to do for my insurance paperwork to get submitted is a chest x-ray. Everything else is done and is looking great for approval. Last night I went to the hospital for my chest x-ray and the Radiologist tells me she sees I have fluid in my lungs. I tell her I have had a cold for 2 weeks, been coughing up stuff but that it seemed to be almost over. She informs me that my insurance is not going to approve me with x-rays showing I have fluid in my lungs. I am going to get denied. Does anyone know about this? If they are going to deny me based on this, won't they tell me this is the reason and when my cold is gone I can re-do my x-rays and resubmit? I was in such a bad mood last nigh thinking I'll get denied and have to wait a long period of time before I can resubmit. Anyone know if I have to wait a certain number of weeks to resubmit? I have SISC III/blue cross of california.
Hi K,
You know isnt it horrible to make a turn and then something happens to dash your hopes?.
I'm no expert, but what I would do is play it on the safe side....wait a few weeks when you are completely well, have the xrays done over again, then have those submitted, instead of letting the insurance mull over the results of the first one. Hope that would be possible for you. That way the insurance does'nt use that as time to pospone you any further. Or even deny you totally.
But there are better folks on this forum that have more experience than I, so I'll let them give you the more succinct advice.
Thank you so much for your reply! That is an excellent idea, to head off the denial. I am going to call my PCP on Tuesday. He will be sent the xrays, then he'll have to forward them to the surgeon's office. I'll ask him what he thinks and then see if I can be put on antibiotics and then we can re-take the xrays and submit the re-takes. Thank you!
