Tricare Prime

My husband is active duty Air Force, so we of course have Tricare.  They stopped covering the Lap-Band back in late 2004 or early 2005 according to everything that I have seen.  I can understand them not wanting to cover the procedure, but they seem to not be willing to make exceptions either.  I have polycystic kidney disease and have been told by my nephrologist that I cannot have a RNY.  The risk to my kidneys would be too great.  Needless to say, Tricare does not seem to care about that and they are just saying that no matter what they will not cover the adjustable gastric banding.   I have decided to pay out of pocket for the procedure, but I was wondering if any of you have Tricare and have been able to get approval for the Lap-Band through some form of magic since they stopped covering it?  I know that every Tricare office is different.  The one at MacDill was great and extremely helpful.  Here at Dyess AFB they are not so knowledgeable or terrific.  Any suggestions?
