Hello all, I was refferred to persue bariatric surgery as an option by my PCP.  I meet the BMI requirements, have 2 co-morbidities and am currently on month 3 of my required 6 month supervised diet.  However, I'm hitting a snag that I really can't find a way around. I have been morbidly obese for 7 years.  However, up until 2 years ago, I had -no- health insurance, and did not have any emergency room trips, etc to document my weight during that time. I wrote to Aetna, and was politely informed that unless I can prove 5 years of weight issues, I am not eligible for assistance. Any advice in this matter? -Asche

Asche,   Did you go to the Dr. at all during this time? If you did, more than likely they recorded your weight.  Have you done anything like Weigh****chers or Jenny Craig? I didnt have insurance up until 2 years ago either, but I did join the YMCA, Weigh****chers, Jenny Craig and saw a Dr. for medication.....all without insurance.  Hope you can find something..... Kathy
