Need input/opinions on bcbs

My second appt with the surgeon is next tuesday and they will submit the papers to my insurance company.  I have BCBS PPO North Carolina.  Has anyone dealt with them or have advice on if they will cover this surgery or be demons to deal with? Maggie

Did you find out what you will need for pre-certification? Typically BC/BS has a list of pre-requirements to meet prior to them giving the ok to pay. Some are but not limited to.... 6 month Dr supervised diet 3 plus years of proof of BMI over 40 through annual weigh in's with your PCP Co-morbid conditions if between 35-40.   These are just the most popular requirements it seems. But.. this is not based on your state. I am in Al but have seen many that are the same if not a little tighter

I'm still jumping through hoops right now so I can't give you any personal experience, but since I have BC/BS myself I have paid attention to a lot of other people's experiences with them. From what I've gathered, they seem to be pretty easy to work with and seem to approve most people quickly with few exceptions. I'm hoping the same holds true in all our cases. Chris posted the most important requirements and those are the same that BC/BS of DE has required of me.
