UHC, not nuts anymore...
I was approved today!!! I dont take back anything about them driving me nuts. You do have to babysit them some. I think the honest to goodness problem is training of some of their reps. They say things that are simply not true and they contradict each other. Bottom line they need the 5 years of weights, if your file isnt reviewed within 10 business days you can request it be escalated, once escalation occurs it takes 1-3 business days for review. Some tell you 24 hours, some tell you weeks. I taked to a supervisor that explained the deal to me so I was fine after that. Also, 10 business days starts the day they get the paper work. Thats day 1. Some of their reps dont understand that is day one and will want to argue with you, ask for a supervisor. They will send you to a voice mail but the supervisors do call you back and have the proper training to help you.

I want to comment on your feelings about the representatives that work with UnitedHealthcare. I used to work with the company, and I have to tell you that the information that they provided us to quote benefits was never as straightforward as we would have liked. Sometimes, employers (or whoever is offering the benefits) are so indecisive about the coverage that it can change constantly. Unfortunately, it's the members that get the short end of the stick when that happens.
UnitedHealthcare actually puts most of its representatives through a month a half of training (more or less) and ramps them up for the different types of calls they take (claims processing and adjudication are different departments and require a lot more training.) Just wanted to give you a heads up on what it's like to be on the other side of the phone members are hollerin'! :-)
In any fashion, congratulations on your surgery! Mariah Carey better watch her back now! :-)
